[TO FFG] Maybe I did a mistake, but there are other ways to recover.

By DB.Cooper, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hi guys. Created this new temporary account to say something.

Here's the thing.

I'm Marco.

I posted a spoiler of "The burning of Derricksburg" of Warhammer: Invasion LCG.

I did EXACTLY what other users DID in the past with other BPs. Everyone was posting news and speculation.

If It was a mistake, you could have remove the post...but WHY BAN ME?

Not to say but...I'm the national organized play coordinator in my country and I do it for NO MONEY.

We have a championship, more than 100 players in our forums and more stuff coming. I spend MONEY for your products and spend time helping new players as any other experienced player does in OUR and YOUR boards.

Never had a trouble with anyone.

I got banned for a spoiler (I see no problem in editing/removing the post and send me a MAIL tellin' "hey, you can't do this." Some education and respect for a customer/trusted player, please.

Maybe some guys are friends of yours and you don't even try to say anything to them while posting spoilers (as everyone did before me).

Please, think about what you've done. I can live without the boards, but it's pretty unfair and unpolite.

Have a nice life

Bye

DB (Marco)

For all the friends (or the like) I've here: hope to solve this problem 'cause I reallye enjoy the environment. :)

Cheers to you Marco, saddly I didn't get the chance to see the spoilers and I'm a bit disappointed for your sake and with the FFG. Here are some common points which I have realized with experience: spoil the cards, spoil the game, as soon as possible ! Most of us don't want to buy blindly stuff and spoiling the cards early gives us a chance to plan decks ahead of of time and what's the harm in spoiling the cards early on seriously ? It also increases the trust in the company if we see that some good stuff is coming.

I do understand the banning if the spoiling was strictly forbidden - but why not show the darn cards ? We haven't got new previews for long time and there isn't much time to the release (or when it's supposed to be released...).

Dear FFG - be brave and break the old rules and defeat MtG, 'cause I want to believe that lcg system can beat the old and tired ccg system.

//rant rant mumboe jumboe post

This is bullwaffle FFG. Unban him and write a nice apology. You aren't Magic, you can't just spit in the face of your customers (especially community leaders).

Banning Cooper for that was really sick. I'm not sure what is the purpose of hiding these *secret* cards 2 weeks before the premiere. Firstly you stop showing cards of the week, now u ban those who do it for you. Shame.

Perhaps this is why we haven't seen a card of the week in so long? They were upset with one spoiler, so no spoilers at all are allowed anymore?

Just sayin', you catch a lot more flies with honey than vinegar, and treating your customers with respect will get them to continue buying. With that in mind, why are there no W:I events at Origins?

I agree with the above posters, and I hope that this is cleared up in a professional and courteous manner soon.

I just don't understand why they banned DB_cooper for spoiling a single battlepack when they didn't anything for those spoiling a complete deluxe expansion set.. are you mod/admins (basicly who wear the pants on here) kidding us?

we aren't players of Magic who got spoilt by mom Wotlc, playing this kind of games and trying to be competitive in the market is something like being orphan and you FFG kinda left us alone making us organize stuffs, events and tournaments by ourself; still you continue banning an helpfully guy. isn't a bit silly this attitude against one of the most important member of the italian comunity?

Thanks guys :)

Jeremy just contacted me and told me, in the essence, that "I was punished because I ABUSED of my POWER of translator".

THAT'S COMPLETELY INSANE.

Here I post as a Player/Customer.

I don't wanna write down what I do for the game here in our awful and sad country, but believe me: it's totally over lots of people would do without getting money.

And then: I'm not a "translator". I helped a bit and did a couple of editings.

The bad thing is that I thought everything but ABUSING of my "power" (power...me...that's funny...).

I just hoped to help the community to see what's goin' on because of some delays. I hoped to keep some attention and open discussions about the interesting future of the game.

Yes. I know something of the future, but I never posted what I read here...And even if I did, FFG: contact me, remove the post and it'll never happen again.

That's what hurts the most.

I spend time, effort and money. They ban me for helping the community (in the "CRIMINAL" post I even commented/rated each card to give some depth) without tryin' to contact me.

Good move.

Anyway, I can forgive, as anyone can. But I want my old account back, with all the friends.

Thanks again. I just needed to explain a little bit more.

Bye

DB

The lack of all around support from FFG is saddening. No card of the week, no new information as far as official rules clarifications, just continued silence.

I'm hopeful what happened was just an oversight or mistake, and will be corrected soon. Surely someone from FFG has seen this thread already? The fact that they smacked down a spoiler thread so quickly makes me think someone is watching.

Keep the dedicated fans in the loop with your game in the form of rules clarifications and FAQs / Battlepack Spoilers / and tourney organization and promotion. We want to bring more people into the fold to buy your game, please help us.

Edit: Well thanks for the update Marco, though I don't know the agreement you have with FFG, I would agree it seems quick to just ban someone. I'd still argue the games needs more "official" support in order to grow.

From what i have seen about the other spoilers I guess the problem is your spoiler was too early. WIth all the other battlepacks it seems the spoilers went up only when the first people got their packs, this may have been a day or so early due to early post, but it was generally around the release date.

Im not aware when Assualt on Ulthuan was leaked but I know that it was in my local store very early possibly weeks before the official release date.

Hopefully this gets resolved because from what I have seen you have been a freindly enthuastic and active member of the community

Thanks again and I add a thing...

I started the mail and this thread with the idea of having made a mistake. I didn't say I'm perfect or that what I did is totally good.

I said that I believe that it may help, knowin' the lack of support we often get.

Anyway, to clear things up: I help "Giochi Uniti" with the translation of some future expansion. That's it. I don't know if I'll become THE translator, but it doesn't matter. I'm a player, at first, interested in the game. Stop.

Just to say that if I wanted to do something REALLY bad, I would have spoilered the whole cycle.

Anyway, remember: I don't wanna make this be the "center" of this boards and sorry if I did. But I really like the idea to have a strong/friendly community, 'cause that's what makes us different from the usual CCG "brigade". :)

This is not a crusade against the FFG. It's just pointing out a really bad mistake made by people that should help us, not give us trouble. Sometimes they're the best company in the world...But they're not aware of what good customers (as we ARE ALL, I guess) are.

what clemtiger says is true, we need your support, your help to grow strong not your silly wrath!

we live in a country (italy) where the MAIN game is Magic, and is rly that hard to find new players or to take them away from Magic trying everyday to bring them on Invasion. Among the big companies no1 cares about us, not even you FFG.

We made an official italian comunity starting from zero, making advertisement by ourself, making agreements with shops by ourself . not just cus we are lovers of business and finance but just cus we badly need to spread the voice around; and since you lack of initiative we must do that cus we CARE ABOUT THIS GAME, WE DO CARE ABOUT WARHAMMER: INVASION.

We are spending our time posting on forums, spreading the voice at work or in the schools, releasing posters of our community.

This one that I'm gonna show you is mine, made by db_cooper and another guy from our group:

wi-locandina.jpg?w=404&h=563

we are not attention ***** srly, we are just customers who apreciate your products and want a more dedicated strategy in order to give us all the chance of playing in the best way... but your conduct demotivate us. this is sad, srly..

I saw the post. I assumed that the BP must have actually come out if you were posting it, but I guess not. I've done my share of freelance work for hobby game companies, so I have a reasonable idea how this works.

Presumably you signed a NDA for FFG, which is a legally binding document? And then broke the NDA by posting non-public information in a public forum?

Sure, I guess you can choose to do that. You knew you would get into trouble for doing it - you even said you would in your post - and then you did. What did you honestly expect?

I'm afraid I do not have a lot of sympathy.

To be honest I don't care if i get a ban. If you still have your spoiler written down, please send me a copy: [email protected]

FFG did something similar to this with my friend Darkkami. They don't really care what your rep is in the community and do not take sides. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I agree with them and this is where my friend and I get into debates like Charles (Prof X) and Eric (Magneto).

He created the articles and came up with custom scenarios for the World of Warcraft Adventure Game. He believes that the only reason that the game even got all those waves of character packs was because of the hype and support he encouraged among the game's community.

Long story short...he was unhappy with the instant changes being brought to the Warhammer RPG and was trying to support both sides and keep the hate war from getting out of hand. He had seen what can happen to a game when change is brought to it and didn't want it to happen to the Warhammer RPG. He tried to play the middle man. Emailed FFG directly to get help and emailed his concerns. One day he decided to play devil's advocate...

He got an email that night (despite never getting any responses to any unless an article had a mistake) about having a displeasure in FFG and that they were no longer going to allow him to support their games. So the next day he went to war against them pointing out the many flaws he held back while supporting them.

WoW adventure game stopped getting views after he posted the story. Now I try to keep the game alive with my own custom works. This issue that you bring up Marco disturbs me.

Not sure how the community will react to this. I hope it doesn't kill the game.

I can see that this wasn't just a banning over you posting spoils. I posted a spoiler just the other day. I am sure you are under an NDA and can't post any info or spoilers on the works that you get the opportunity to see before us. This seems a bit different than just getting banned for supporting the game by posting a spoil of the next pack.

FFG is just trying to ensure you don't post spoils too early. You know the next set of cards for the entire enemy cycle. So whats not to stop you from posting chapter pack 2 the day after chapter pack 1 releases? This is where they are trying to draw the line. I think they need to let us know how early is too early because some stores get the product in days before the announcement goes live.

Regardless of how this is resolved, I encourage everyone to support the games FFG makes. The designers of these games do not have a say in these debacles and do not deserve to have their vision destroyed because of marketing decisions.

If you signed a NDA and spoiled the next BP cards I'm afraid we can't feel sorry for you. In fact you are lucky that the only thing FFG did was ban your account as I believe they could do much worse! I think this is pretty obvious when it comes to contract law and business. If you did not sign a NDA than you make a valid point.

Never said ANYTHING against designers, just to be clear. And never told "FFG" is a monster.

I ALWAYS defended FFG, even during past harsh times (who knows me, knows it).

This is NOT a Crusade. It's just discussion (what adult people should do).

I didn't subscribe ANYTHING with FFG and didn't get any official agreement with FFG. I "cooperate" with Giochi Uniti (I don't know if there's a right term in the american laws to describe this).

I repeat: even If I did a "marketing" mistake, removing the post would have been sufficient.

DIALOGUE is the base.

I do love and purchase FFG products, NEVER had or posted a doubt about it.

I just tried to be useful, as I said and even after a mistake like this, NOONE deserve a ban, especially when (i'm not special, but I try to explain my position) the player is not just a player and BEFORE being a translator is a "person" who bothers about developing the active community.

THAT's the point. No crusade. No hate against marketing guys that I believe are just tryin' to do their job. I think I was polite in my explenations and I was never meant to be unpolite or aggressive.

If this kind of troubles (little, if compared with real marketing/customer issues) are handled like this...well, I think it's not good. That's what I care about.

Did you sign a NDA?

I'm still thinking why NOT to spoil the new cards immediately after the old battlepack has been released... Seriously Invasion needs a boost - at our lfgs we all have realized how over-powered skaven/DE/orks are: we are getting bored with the rush domination. Please - if you take your business seriously and aim at the top (and **** that's the point of whole thing) get rid of the old useless rules. Gaming culture has been seriously 'round at least for ten years and we can learn from the success of MtG what people want. Most successfull company at this has been in my opinion Plaid Hat Games, they're very small but darn, they have taken the customer based view seriously.

I give my reps to FFG for making all cards 3x in new cycle, but growing player base needs tournaments and especially other decks than destruction rush... Please don't turn out to be Games Workshop which is supported simply because no other company has such huge player foundation...

Don't even know that's an NDA. :)

Just kiddin'. Obviously I know what it is...I study "law" and know something, even if I'm not a "lawyer" or don't have a degree yet.

Never signed one, though.

NDA is a non-disclosure agreement. Its essentially a legal document you sign stating that you will keep a specific thing or project confidential for a certain amount of time. If you were on the inside with FFG and had access to viewing cards well before they are released perhaps you had to sign one. I am totally on your side if you did not. However, if you did sign a legal document you cannot be mad at FFG for taking action.

Ok well than you make some valid points! Your spoiler is no different than anyone else's in my opinion.

Just contacted by FFG Steve. Very polite and clear.

We're discussing.

Sorry if this became what it wasn't meant to be. Hope to solve things with them.

Thanks for the support and sorry for stealin' your gaming/nerding time. :ehehehe :)

See you around (hopefully)

Marco

wait there, if the game is rly that good but the company takes crappy decisions why should I still support the game? I simply don't care about how good are the designers or how fine is the pressed paper, I want "invest" my money is something that has a future not just a 1monthgame.

lucky this is not our situation yet. beside the lack of support from FFG (that seems to be the most interesting point in this topic and who every1 take care of) we don't have anything to complain about them and their acting (eccept ofcourse this unmotivated ban).

They support the game by having a forum for you to communicate on, have events at large convention(s) that they organize, have some kits to assist you in running events of your own, and occasionally spoil and discuss some cards online. Oh and they make cards for the game.

If, by support, you wanted dailey articles of strategies and 100K$ cash money prizes... then you're barking up a different kind of tree here...

IMO FFG IS supportign the game. Nuff said.

I solved a big part of the trouble with Steve. Anyone seems to have admitted their part of the fault.

We discussed and Steve was VERY, VERY kind, gentle and friendly. Nothing to say about that. Never doubted about it, anyway (I used to talk with some of FFG guys and never had a problem).

So, the thing is: it seems I'm gonna stay, but the spoiler's gonna stay wher it should be...Far from here until we'll get the BP. :)

Thanks to EVERYONE who discussed here, even the ones who disagree with me, 'cause everyone posted explaining his reasons without attacking anyone else.

Proud to be here. :)

Let's move on with other stuff ;)

DB
