Crabbok interview with Michael Gernes

By lunitic501, in Star Wars: Armada

Haven't been able to watch the whole thing (only about 20. Mins in) but I got Crabboks TL/DR from reddit.

Crabboks TL/DR

"Some highlights include:

\-A new Separatist card that can turn a token into a dial effect,

\-A discussion on Pass Tokens and how they'll work,

\- A discussion on cards like Strategic Advisor and why they aren't going to be present in the card pack,

\-Talking about the new Keywords,

\- Questions about Huge Ships and the possibilities of more,

\- Konstantine Redesign discussion,

\- Campaign Box discussion, (Can Clone Wars factions do RITR, Will there be more campaigns, etc)

\- Me Begging for more info related to the next wave, and future ships for the Empire and Rebels!"

What I find really interesting is strategic advisor not being in thr upgrade card pack

Really interesting. Good news about the change in activation/pass tokens, and great news about Konstantine. I am a real fan of his, probably it because my regular opponent nuts when I bring Konstantine because I get to mess up all the carefully crafted plans my opponent has assembled.

Great interview. Got some very good info out this video!

Basically Bail, pryce and strat ad got shoved out an airlock.

They just have to use the force while frozen

Perhaps Pryce will learn the last/first'ing is not how we make friends on the battlefield.

They’re safely hibernating in carbonite.

My two takeaways:

  1. Malevolence tacitly confirmed? More Huge ships a possibility (all but promised). Wave 8 being a test bed for Clone Wars mechanics (Ignition Arc?). Gernes agreeing that Clone Wars has suitable candidates. Bring it on.
  2. "Stay tuned" for space stations ?! Insert excited GIF of your choice here.

Good interview. Some insights and teases, but not a lot of specifics. Obviously we'll have to wait for the Clone Wars preview articles/videos expected in November for more.

Based on what was mentioned about Pass Tokens, it sounds like they'll work similar to how I thought, except that they're a finite resource and don't refresh every round in the Status Phase. Presumably Pass Tokens are going to be spent in Rounds 3 and 4, which is when Bail Organa and Governor Pryce are traditionally used.

It's interesting that the Strategic Adviser, Bail Organa, and Gov. Pryce Officer cards are apparently omitted from the UCC, and their use will not be permitted in Organized Play.

I wonder how soon FFG will rework those cards and return to the game?

And how? In a new Wave of Imperial and Rebel ships? Or another GCW-era campaign expansion?

It's good to hear that Konstantine has been updated, and his ability will be similar, but have less restrictions. I agree with Crabbok that Konstantine should work with SSD, and supposedly will.

I'm more interested in a Clone Wars campaign expansion than using the CW factions in CC or RitR campaigns, because the primary appeal has always been the new unique squadrons and ship titles included in the expansion. The Clone Wars is ideal for a campaign -- a grand campaign -- but Crabbok was right about them being difficult to play through. It has little to do with the campaign game itself and all to do with finding reliable players who can see it through to the end.

Well, November will be here so we should be getting more answers about the Clone Wars content soon.

My take away from this was the new trait that the lesser costing Consular will have. “Senate” so how often will we see this? What cards will be senate only? What ships will have it? Lots of questions Surrounding That.

To me, the way he worded the answer for space stations essentially confirmed they’re at least considering it, and seems like a possibility. Which would be an amazing addition! Also confirming that cw will have campaigns! I didn’t doubt it, but it’s just nice we get some clarity on things to come.

@Crabbok did a wonderful interview and asked a variety of questions that most armada players are interested in whether you are into the clone wars era or the rebellion era. Great job and I really appreciate the job he does. All of his videos are good.

Just wait for the clone wars era Sheev Palpatine card that’s “Senate Only”

Pretty sure they were talking about the spoiled Tactical Droid card.

Dreadnaught rumors are best rumors. With CW being confirmed here's to the new most anticipated future release king!

Dreadnoughts are to Armada what the Gunboat was to Xwing.

You mean the Dreadnought will SLAM into Armada when we least expect it?

No, SLAM engines only go on Squadrons

I'd expect that Chancellor Palpatine's card grants the Senate trait.

False. Ian Cross is the Senate

Still no public news for the French and Spanish communities...
This stinks.
