Maul's Probe Droids

By Lemmiwinks86, in Star Wars: Legion

I saw this on the FFG's facebook right now but there's no article so far, so I'm posting it for those who didn't see it:

Without the benefit of knowing how Observe works, I still think they are pretty decent for 35 points.

For what I read somewhere, when you attack a unit with Observe tokens, you may spend any number of those tokens to reroll dice (I guess you can reroll 1 die per observation token spent but I'm not sure).

First Doctor Ball, we now have the Three DRunK droids. Three Stooges in Star Wars.

Except we know how it works? The card has rules reminder text for Observe and we know from the leaked inserts a few weeks ago that observation tokens are spent by the attacking unit to reroll one attack die per token.

Mmm, cheap activations. 🥰

Not when combines with Maul who costs 160 pioints naked and in a faction that has 36 point Corps. 🤣

Makes me curious if Maul will have something like the "bounty" keyword that gives some benefit for focusing on a single target.

Cool flex. I guess missing the insert reveal on observe is grounds to respond like a jerk.

I apologize for giving you information you didn't already have. I will be sure to not do so again in the future.

Classy

Likewise. I can't fix you. In no way was I "responding like a jerk." I'm not sure if you felt embarrassed or something and decided to feel slighted, but I was literally telling you something you hadn't heard yet and instead of saying "cool, now I know, thanks" (or not responding at all) you said I was a jerk. I think you might want to reevaluate who is being helpful and who is being a jerk in this situation.

I wonder if maul will have entourag:probe droids.

I also want to see a leader with entourage 2: b1 battle droids.

Suppressive keyword also. Nice

That would be utterly busted unless priced through the roof. 2 free orders every turn, particularly for a faction that has abundant Coordinate? Maybe they need to add another keyword that's like Entourage except without the free order.

Yeah, with 8 B1s and at least two other Droid Troopers, that would easily be 10 free orders every turn. Never gonna happen.

I never even read the second half of Entourage. I agree. Something without the order manipulation but still allowing more spam of the b1 might be fun

So these seem pretty good. If you hold them back and just use them for Observation they can't be targeted, and as Troopers can interact with objectives when you need them to. They're pretty flimsy, but their offense is actually pretty stellar for their price, not to mention Suppressive. If it were possible to take these without Maul I could easily see people running multiples of these.

Cheaper than a sniper squad and Droids / AATs always benefit from free aims or mini aims.

This makes their sniper teams way better.

How so? They can't spend those tokens to get pierce since they aren't aims.

I suppose it could allow them to use Lethal and reroll dice, but the sniper is so accurate they don't often need to reroll dice. So it doesn't not work with BX snipers, but I don't think it really has a big impact on them (especially since they are competing for the same force org slot).

Cad Bain will love these guys. Of course that mean taking Cad, and Maul. So likely not having many points for a commander other than the generic. But that isn't necessary a bad thing.

Assuming you put some upgrades on Mail you are looking at 210 points for two activations. That seems like a decent deal if Maul is a powerhouse. You will be able to build him into decent 10 to 11 activation lists

So correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s 6 white on attack at range 1-2 with suppressive and surge to hit. If so that’s really not bad for 35 points. I know they have white defence dice, but the do have Incognito until things get real and they have to attack and be attacked. I’d say they’re really worth the extra points on Maul.
