Is there any way to get a damage deck beyond buying a $100 Core Set? I'm trying to set up a buddy with a free starter collection from things I have lying around, but I seem stumped on how to get him a damage deck. Have they ever done like X-Wing and offered alt art promo decks or does anyone make a custom-but-legal damage deck? Failing that, anyone have an extra damage deck sitting around they'd want to sell?

You could:

1. Get one of the Clone Wars starters when they release

2. Buy one from someone (I've seen them before on BST groups on Facebook).

They did offer alt art damage decks as a prize at some high-level tournaments before.

Check ebay. Last year they started giving out spares for tournament prizes. Otherwise the core set (or one of the forthcoming Clone Wars starters) is the only way to get one.

Yes. No sarcasm needed. Those of us who will be buying the new factions will end up with spare damage decks. Many of these will end up on the secondary market and you will be able to get one cheaply.

There are some second declks around from Worlds or Euro players but not many.

Probably best to wait for the market to grow a lot when the clone wars starters come out.

In the meantime, what about making a copy to use for casual games?

Not really.

Either the Imp/Rebel core from 2015, or one of the new CW starters.

Or eBay. Or try one of the 1000 Armada groups on FB - could be someone has a spare.

Yeah, $100 feels really expensive for what you're getting in the core set. I got mine on eBay for $51, but that's not easy to find. It's common to see below $80 on eBay/Amazon/Facebook. It's no wonder the core set is one of the few items that's almost always in stock.

That being said, when the CW starters are released, there will probably be more damage decks on the eBay / Facebook market, as Gilarius pointed out.

If your friend goes to a FFG OP supported tournament, he'll need his own damage deck. In the meantime, just proxying is fine for casual play. I didn't have my own damage deck when I started playing the game with friends. And casual play seems to be the norm everywhere (at least in the U.S.) until we get some better news about the pandemic.

If you're playing friendly "casual" games there's nothing wrong with you both using the same damage deck. The starter set, meant for two players, comes with only one damage deck. It's not like there's much tournament action going on at the moment and even if there was I am sure you could ask around beforehand and someone in your local community would have a spare your friend could borrow.

I'm in the process of remaking the deck to get printed for our local store. I can put the files up, but they will be the standard card size (2.5x3.5in)

There are 52 cards in a damage deck.

Get a deck of playing cards, and write the names of the damage deck cards on one each with a (insert regional name for felt-tipped pen of choice here).

FFG has not yet produced alt art promo decks for armada, so I offer thee some custom-but-maybe-not-legal-cause-its-not-official damage decks. Print and play

There are a few from the 2019 OP kits; top 16 for the Nationals, winner for the Regionals, and (I think) for the worlds champion and finalist. But obviously there aren't that many of them out in the wild.

There's at least one up on ebay right now, even.

I have a spare damage deck I would be happy to trade for a large ship base and fin if you haven't found one yet

Reading through the items included in the Starters, I did not see a damage deck listed. Is that an oversight, or has the damage deck been announced as included elsewhere that I haven't seen yet?
