Card of the week?

Yes, I aready mentioned it in one thread. It's about 2 weeks now without "card of the week" ![]()
I really don't understand why.
Or FAQ update
Or answer to the last question I posted to James...
I check the card of the week site almost every day, slowly getting tired of finding nothing new there. Hoping to find an update soon.

yeah, has me worried, sudden silence on a website by a company usually means the game is in trouble. I hope not. I know many who have sold their cards and are no longer interested in pursuing the game because they are not going to release factions for each race. So I hope this is not the case.

Lol. They sell the cards because they won't get something which was obvibious from the strart that won't come ? Crazy.
Locally we have a sturdy player-base here, so I hope there is no problem. Also, the 2nd cycle is already designed, the first BP printed... why would they stop support now ? They wan't to sell wht they produced I guess.
Maybe they have some problem wth GW ? I could easily imagine that. They have a very bad rputation as a business-partner, at least based on what I read on different forums.

A lot of players don't research things on the internet before they buy a game and it would be hard for those players to know they weren't going to print the other races. I have thought about not buying anymore W:I cards just due to the tournaments not being good. There is no incentive to go to a tournament and without that competitive aspect of a game, the game will grow boring. Its not fun playing the same 5 people over and over and over.
This has set off a few alarms in my head as well. This game is fantastic and I would hate to see it go. I hope we hear something from FFG soon.
The crazy thing is, they've been updating the other two LCG's. Usually, they were on par with each other, but not W:I right now. Pity. Guess I don't have to feel so bad about not being able to get to Gen Con this year?

That's sadly true, but I hope it's too early to be naysayers. We are speaking about a game which needed reprints (both core-set, both BP-s) beause we, players wanted that much. There are lots of people waiting for newer and newer cards, updates, rules clarifications...
If something could kill this game, then it's the lack of support. The FAQ was late, and it don't get regular updates... and whie it is promised from th start there is no offiicial multiplayer rules.
I don't agree that regular tournament is needed (and at least this could be done by us, players), but multiplayer rules would add a lot of to replayability and variability.
I wish FFG would just take fan created/submitted articles again to post on front page. My friend and I made a huge mistake by being to critical towards the Warhammer RPG transition and how the flame wars and hate wasn't handled. Funny thing we didn't even own nor play the games. We just didn't want to see a PS3 vs Xbox360 like war start in FFG forums, which are normally civil and respectful. I love writing articles and helping on the forums when ever I can. I really enjoyed working with my friend to revise and play test before sending off all of those articles we did for FFG with the WoW Adventure Game. I make my own board games and card games all the time, but finding publishers isn't easy.
Many designers are even told not to look at submitted rules and game designs for legal reasons. I don't have the option to make it to huge Gen Con like events to show of my ideas and prototypes, because I work 45 hr week schedule, and by the time I get home I just want to relax and work on more games or surf others posts and articles. We wrote and submitted all of those works because we enjoyed the game and wanted it to last.
We learned a valuable lesson on burning bridges.
Just go over to the Arkham thread and see how encouraging it is for new people to see all of those custom works and the constant creation of topics. FFG can claim it is all these expansions that make Arkham sell as well as it does, but in reality it is the community (lead by Avi Dreader) that keeps it alive.
I can't promise, but if I have the time, I will post articles for card of the weeks going over cards that have not been previewed but deserve a topic in a similar format to the ones FFG post. That way these forums will have more life.
Also guys, please don't post topics like "is this game dead?" because negative threads get viewed the most and also garnish the most replies, in turn bumping them to the top for potential new customers to see. If you don't like the game just stop buying, but to be very helpful and provide hope for the rest of us, write a sincere email or hand letter to the company explaining why you quit the product. A personal email shows meaning and care. It won't be viewed as just a random flame or hate/rant post to get attention.
SIDE NOTE
I think the reason W:I has a slow trickle of info at the moment is because of the new change in a designer. Let James get comfortable with his new job and everything will recover.

as I wrote in many other posts the problem of this game is not the game it (I rly love this game and his mechanics), but the propaganda behind it. In my country for exemple (and more exactly in my town) players are the one spreading around the voice of this new game trying to involve more ppl into it, and not the company itself. this is why there are always the same 5 players playing it.
with some friends from the official italian comunity we managed to make the biggest group of Rome which is made by nearly 12 players.....come on...12 players for a town of 5KK citizens?
Honestly I don't think the tournament is rly that bad, despite other games like Magic where the strongest is the one who spend the most, in Invasion every1 has the same chance to win the competion, which is rly nice. to bad there is a rly low competition due the problem above^^.
About ppl quitting the game due no new races realesed, well is nothing sure yet and even if there wont be released new races the game is fine like this. (yea I kinda get emo when they announcend no beast-man or wood-elf Q_Q)
About Games Workshop, are months that on my blog I throw **** on them. if you guys manage to speak with games/nerd-shop owners, they gonna tell you that games workshop is the worst business partner ever.
@curator, once again the users are the one working for the company, but let me ask you: how gonna the company "pay "our work?
sry for the double quote/post xD
@Kragg
I don't care about money. Sorry, never have, never will. I work a demanding life that is very stressful, but helping others where I can is a huge payoff. As long as I enjoy what I am doing why should it matter how rich I am? Yeah I just get by in life, but I promised myself as a young child. "Live a happy life without regrets until death." If I pass up the ability to help a person that I know I could help, then that goes against me goal. Later I learned I can't save the world, so now I only try to help those that I have met during my life. I have helped many people overcome hardships in life, from random strangers, to my friends and family, to even people on these forums.
Board games have helped me bring smiles to the faces of kids with cancer and also families that had lost almost everything in disasters. Board games are cheap and provide years of entertainment. In fact, when people that can't afford games have one donated to them from me, they end up developing their own games using variants to the mechanics and rules. Before the variants though, they come up with strategies that casual players would never take note of.
As long as the game being kept alive brings fun and entertainment to others I don't care if FFG uses my works to make profits off of.
Board games help give friends a reason to meet and they can bring busy family together when they have the time to share. And it is not just board games that allow me to help others, but even basic sports or mini games that I help organize for people with special needs.
My life revolves around games in more ways then I can count. Even while at work I turn it into a game to help pass the time and make it enjoyable. So yeah.....
anyways....
@Cain_hu
I consider these official Multiplayer rules for the time being because they work for my customers and I am glad Brad Harrington shared them with the community on my post for ideas for multiplayer games.
" As an old Game of Thrones player I thought I would try and incorporate the core philosophies from their multiplayer rules into WH:I. There are only a few changes to the rules.
1. No one is ever eliminated, regardless of how many of their zones are burning.
2. Whoever takes an action that would result in the burning of an opponents zone (normally by dealing enough damage, but also by removing enough developments from a zone to it below the burn threshold) also receives a burn token to be used as a counter (not on one of their zones). Note: It is whoever actually burns the zone regardless of the amount of damage done. If Bob does 7 damage to Joe's Quest Zone and the next player is John who deals the final point of damage to burn the zone, then John gets the token and credit for the burn.
3. The first player to accumulate three burn tokens wins the game.
We have been playing with this format for a few weeks now and it has done a great job of eliminating most of the issues I find annoying about multiplayer.
- No one ever gets eliminated and has to sit around watching while the rest have fun.
- Since you can't eliminate anyone, there is less of a resason to gang op on a player. However, once you appear to have victory within reach on your next turn, be prepared to have your Support cards destroyed, Units stolen and card pulled from your hand .
- No restrictions on the actions you can take. You can declare an attack on whoever you want or interfere with any attack.
Try a few games with this format and I think you'll see it actually adds to the already high level of strategy present in the game. Do you attack a zone if you can't burn it since that only makes it easier for someone else to get the burn? When do you allow an opponent to burn a zone simply in order to prevent another opponent from grabbing it and winning?
One bit of advice, if you are going for the win with a Cacophonic Scream beware the Twin-Tailed Comet... aka I win first
When a zone burns you place a burn token on it and it follows the normal rules. The player who burned the zone gets an additional burn token to keep for himself for score keeping.
One point I forgot to bring up was the initial round. The first player skips the Quest Phase and Battlefield Phase. The last player in the round gets to do everything (just like the two player rules) and everyone in between skips the Battlefield phase. Seems to work well."
Try them out guys they work just as intended to. Again Amazing job at a simple fix Brad.
Some of the variants we use for all games multiplayer.
Only one unique card in play at a time (prevents teaming up). And we have a phase before the start of the game in which each player is given 3 resources to spend on cards in their starting hand. Starting hand is not replenished and unspent resources are returned. Last person to place a card in this way (if any) will become the first player. Play goes clockwise.
I am sure you guys can form your own team variant for these.
@Kragg,
try to convince your store owner to have an open copy and ask him to promote it. This works wonders at my store. we have 24 players ( 12 on a consistent showing, but my town is secluded.
so we usually just meet at a house and use multiple rooms that way we can go out for beer runs and order pizza without disrupting others like we would at the store, unless it is recruit a friend night. We take the game up to the store and make sure to draw the largest attention. LOL walking into the store on recruit night is like walking into a Waaagh! competition. Stinks though because store is shutting down from lack of business and increased rent.
Sometimes we use bookstores for recruit nights. A new venue for gaming space and games is opening soon so we will most likely migrate over to that place.

look, when i was talking about being payed by FFG i was refering in term of new products/card of the week/support for the whole comunity not money or prizes.
about the store I'm doing alrdy a great job since every saturday afternoon and tuesday night I'm there with my guys makeing demo games. I usually bring about 6-8 decks and I let ppl playing with them so they don't have to buy cards or anything, only when they gonna rly apreciate the game they will purchase the game by themself. about stores I made lots of demo in gamestore and pubs, never tryed in bookstore, i'll give a try as soon as I've some free time.
having 3 core set i left 3 pack of boards in 3 different shops, so every1 can go and play like Magic just having his deck. And since I never play at home (i prefer to play in a public place to make ppl see what we are doing) I dont need them for myself.
Hello everyone,
Card of the week will return this week, no conspiracy, we just got behind getting the new catalog out. So relax and look forward to much more Warhammer goodness for years to come. Trust me we are just getting started, as one of the in house play testers I can tell you that this next cycle will blow your mind.
See you on the battlefield,
Steve Horvath

Hi,
Thank you for the info ! I'm happy to hear this. ![]()
BTW : Are you a fellow hungarian ? As Horvath seems a hungarian name, but maybe I'm mistaken. I would happily face you on the battlefiled if you ever happen to be in Budapest. ![]()
