Penny Arcade Reprint

"Dude, a Penny-Arcade card game?"

"Yes, would you like to know more?"

"Heck yeah"

Same exact story here in NYC. I know people who bought battle boxes just to get the deck boxes for other games. Sadly they were never going to play UFS cause they were all too devoted to magic but sales are sales. A few did wind up getting sucked in UFS though.

I just want tycho legal again then order will be nuts !!

Order isn't already nuts?

Apparently some folks are a little slow at picking things up.

It's not a pitch fork, so many a person ignore it.

No i was actually being sarcastic because honestly I think order has replaced evil has the top in my opinion but tycho would just seal the deal .

I never got to use tycho...and now that deck will definitely be made.

It's just a bit more subtle than anything ending in Kasumi-Suzaku.

I was kinda hoping that we were gonna see other characters from PA make it into card form! Well, atleast I get my Tycho... lol

No, you get Tycho.

It doesn't mean you'll get his abilities as printed. I'm pretty sure he'll be nerfed into oblivion.

And Gabe might not suck.

This is good to hear, the PA set was the first thing I bought when I got into UFS back in '06. If the cards are rebalanced, beyond simply having the errata on them, then I'll happily buy the cards again.

I just hope penny arcade the promo doesnt get touched its so good and was one of the few assets played before block 2 rotation.

Actually, I'm not that sure of penny arcade. I know it is a web comic and read a few pages, but am not that convinced it fits into a fighting game.

if FFG is going to do webcomics into UFS, can I suggest Order of the stick?

Penny Arcade was the very first UFS set, predating both Street Fighter and SoulCalibur III.

Seriously, I think this is among the most terrible ideas ever concocted. I'd rather have Shadowar. Where the hell is it?

Isn't ShadoWar still coming in March along with SCIV?

It blows my mind that people can be so xenophobic about what can be included in their card game and what can't.

Will the Penny Arcade Promo be legal again? That is all I need to know.

And Shadowar is in March with SC 4

Agreed, a number of the players here don't like the idea of ShadoWar being in the game, but I just tell them that if they don't like it they don't have to buy it. I mean, sure even if you don't buy it you'll still have to play against it, but it's not like FFG is forcing you to buy every little thing associated with this game just beacuase it has the UFS logo on it...

I don't like Soul Calibur, so I don't buy any boxes of it. I probably will not buy boxes/packs of any product coming out next year. Especially if the sets follow suit with the previous release and this new garbage we just got. If it is not a franchise/IP/liscence I am interested it, I just trade for and buy singles, but I don't buy boxes, why support a set I don't like? Compounded with the fact that there will not be any Street fighter sets next year. If I were just thinking about getting into this game and someone told me no SF for a year, I wouldn't even start playing. FFG is gonna' miss the bus on SF4 and it will be too little, too late, just like SC4 in March, should have been release alongside the game.

I agree with you, Ender, that an SCIV set should've seen release back in August, just as it should be SFIV in March. I'm sure the reason this isn't happening is due to licensing issues however. I also agree that no SF for a year could be a mistake, because as much as I like SC and KoF, Street Fighter is by far my favorite of those franchises and I'd rather see more of it then stuff like Darkstalkers, especially since Street Fighter still hasn't had all of the available characters made yet, were as SCIII and DS both have, and since SCIV only had a handful of new characters it shouldn't take more than a set or two and they should all see print as well.

One has to get the licenses to be able to release along side the game. Some times there are outside factors that prevent the world from being as you think it should be. Besides if SC IV cards were released at the same time as the game, who was going to take time to stop playing it long enough to go and hop into a CCG?

I don't seem to remember the statement saying that there would be 0 SF Releases in 2009. I seem to remember the statement being that we wouldn't see another SF release for a year, meaning we'd be seeing SF again in late 2009.

And while it doesn't please you, because you are only into SF, what about the guys who are fans of SNK? Soul Calibur? Dark Stalkers? As well as other potential licenses? They can't please everyone.

<Takes a moment to wave the flag of as a Soul Calibur and Dark Stalkers fan. >

And to file under pleasing everyone - people say they want more opponents to play against. Bringing in different product from different licenses will grow the game. There are folks who will buy into the game because of Penny Arcade. There are folks who will buy into the game because of ShadoWar.

I look forward to welcoming these people into the game, and having fun playing against them.

Don't get me wrong, I have bought 2 boxes of Flames of Fame, and then I plan on buying SF because I like both sets. I'm not saying don't make them, I'm juts saying I won't buy most of them. I like more licenses, they make the game more interesting. Do I want to see more fighting games in UFS? Yes... I hope they pick good ones and don't pick up garbage like Mortal Kombat and Tekken. But if they do, then it happens, I won't buy boxes of them, but I'd look for the good singles. I'm not against anything really making it's way into UFS, as long as it makes sense (like fighting games) Things like Devil May Cry and God of War, make no sense for UFS, God of War has character. So what, we'd get a set with Kratos and, um... oh yeah, there are no other characters in that game. Devil May Cry at least has Dante, Virgil, Nero, Lady and a couple other chracters you could put in there. I'd still rather not see it in UFS. Stick with fighting games and OPs lie ShadowWar.

Ballin! If it's new or even based on their new video games I'd have to buy it just to see the art regardless of the playability. However, can't you still buy the old box from penny arcade itself, thus a perfect reprint would be redundant?

The PA box hasn't been in print for quite some time. Some online retailers may have a limited amount in stock, but Penny Arcade's store doesn't have it.

This is going to help get people to at least become more aware of the game, more than anything else that is feasible right at the moment. People will buy this simply because it is a Penny Arcade product, so Yay!

Let's hope for 4 pointed cards with updated (read: relatively, reasonably, balanced) text.

When I mentioned ShadoWar, I meant I'd rather have a different license than toy around with a broken battle pack.

Isn't updating text a nice way of sayin "no, this isn't the same set?" If it isn't, then why call it a reprint?

Remake is a better word for it. Reprinting that crap (Tycho, Dirty Pool, Fruit) is a bad idea. So as long as ALL OF IT is reworded, then I'm OK with it.

ALL OF IT. I want a playable Gabe and Fleshreaper or no deal.
