So wave one is a combo box and fighter packs. Do you guys think wave 2 will be a one ship per faction wave? Or will we get individual packs from wave 1 with new ships? Thoughts, ideas, hopes, dreams, pickles?
Clone wars waves
Wave 2 has actually been teased already.
Republic: Pelta & Venator
Separatists: Recusant & Invisible Hand (Providence)
Assuming we get the Lucrehulk in Wave III (pleeeeeeease, FFG) along with the Republic Arquitens, it doesn’t leave much for the following waves.

I think you could just about stretch out another fighter pack (either individually or a joint pack) + some sort of bounty hunters/Republic Hero pack.
As for ships, the Malevolence & the Di-Omni support ship I think would be cool additions (a bigger base, double support slot ship would be fun).
As for the Republic... Not a fan of the Stealth Ship. Perhaps they might have to do an Imperial Raider thing and create something brand new?

I think a fighter Pack 2 for every faction is pretty likely.
The Republic still at least has the Eta-2-Actis, the Z-95 and the Nu-class Attack shuttle to go. To this you could add something like the LAAT (not a fan of the space version, takes away from the vessels uniqueness) or N-1.
The Seppies are a bit harder. Outside the boarding craft (raid) and the sheathipede we pretty much have only member/Ally ships, like Nantex, Umbaran Fighter and Rogue class and the HMP (see LAAT for my opinion in that).
There definetly is material for a CW rogues and villains pack: For the republic we could get things like the Twilight, the Halo, Padmé's Yacht and the Silver Angel and for the CIS the Sith Infiltrator, flarestar class attack shuttle, solar sailer and maybe the Komk'r again.
Finally you could even think of a auxilliary pack for those allies and members. In the light side's corner I can come up with the N-1, Porax-38 and Auzituck and Nantex, Umbaran and Zygerian Starhopper in the dark one.
Republic squadrons already released for X-wing:
- Naboo N-1
- Eta-2-Actis
- LAAT/I
- Nimbus V-wing
Separatist squadrons already released for X-wing:
- Sith Infiltrator
- Firespray
- HMP Droid Gunship
- Nantex
So that's 1 squad pack right there. And the Republic has that shuttle. And Dooku's sailer. So no shortage of stuff.
Don't forget the "Bad Batch" for the Republic R&V set.

The Republic needs a squadron with the Relay keyword, so I predict that one of the four squadrons in Republic Fighter Squadrons II will be one of the shuttles from the Clone Wars era: Eta, Theta, or Nu-class, and it will have the Relay keyword, similar to the Imperial Lambda shuttle.
The LAAT/I is probably the most famous "starfighter" from the Clone Wars, but it wasn't designed for space combat -- despite it being included in X-Wing 2E. If it's in RFS2, I expect it will have the Assault keyword.
The Naboo N-1 could have a similar role to the Rebel Z-95 Headhunter as the cheapest Republic squadron, but Clone pilots did fly Z-95's in TCW series, so I think one or the other be in Republic FS2 -- but I think the N-1 is more likely because it's new and different.
The Eta-2 Actis interceptor and V-Wing are locks.
As for the Separatists, they definitely should not get the Firespray. I expect the Clone Wars-era Firespray will appear in a Clone Wars version of Rogues & Villains pack, which will obviously have Jango Fett as its Ace.
I predict that the Separatists will get the Rogue-class starfighter instead, which was flown by IG-100 MagnaGuards and Cad Bane. Cad Bane should be in the CW "Villains" pack IMO, but he could be the Separatist Fighter Squadrons II pack instead.
The HMP Droid Gunship has the same problem as the LAAT/I but could be included since the Separatists are short on squadrons.
I think the Ginivex-class Fanblade starfighter with Ace Asaaj Ventress is more likely than the Sith Infiltrator for the Separatists. The Sith Infiltrator will more likely be a "Villains" squadron.
Dooku's Solar Sailer is probably another squadron in the "Villains" pack.

I'd honestly prefer if FFG released single-ship expansions for the Acclamator, Consular, Munificent, and Hardcell ships before the Lucrehulk and Republic Arquitens are released. Whether the 4 starter ship expansions are considered Wave 3 or not, I don't know. (Perhaps classify them as a delayed Wave 1.)
I think the Lucrehulk and Republic Arquitens are safe bets for Wave 3 -- although there's a big size disparity in those ships. Either the Republic should also get a large/huge ship, like a Mandator II, and the Separatists a small ship (?), so that wave is symmetrical. I've previously mentioned that I hope the Lucrehulk will come with a detachable Core Ship. Perhaps there will be a separate CIS Core Ship expansion released alongside the Lucrehulk battleship expansion. The Core Ship would probably be a medium ship rather than small, so it might not match up with the Arquitens, but I think it would be acceptable.
The Republic Stealth Ship should be released in Wave 4.
After Wave 3/4, the Separatists should definitely get the Malevolence/Subjugator heavy cruiser as a huge ship -- perhaps in a non-wave, similar to the SSD.
I wouldn't be surprised if FFG releases a second Venator expansion with 2 new variants, similar to what they did with the Chimaera expansion.
After those Clone Wars ships are released, I'm not very enthused about the remaining prospects. I don't care about a Dreadnaught or CR70 or Republic Victory SD. I'd rather FFG created some new Clone Wars ships, similar to what they did with the Starhawk and Onager.
At least Asymmetric waves aren’t anything new.
11 hours ago, Drasnighta said:At least Asymmetric waves aren’t anything new.
Not new, but asymmetrical Waves are less common. FFG seems to avoid doing it whenever possible.
But if FFG does release the Lucrehulk in Wave 3, it will probably be a huge ship, and the Republic doesn't have a canon "huge" ship. It's more likely that the Republic Arquitens and/or the Stealth Ship will be released in Wave 3, which should both be small ships. Two small ships don't equate to one huge ship.
If and when the Republic gets a huge ship, it would make more sense to release it in the same Wave as the Malevolence, rather than the Lucrehulk. If the Republic gets the Mandator II, it will probably match up well against the Malevolence, but would probably be OP'd versus a Lucrehulk.
Look all i want is to have like 50 Venators, and just do the battle of Courescant on the living room floor. that would be fun.
I would think the lucrehulk will be released by itself like the Ssd was based on how much it’s going to cost. It will be like $150 - $200 for it I would guess.

I’m guessing it will slot in around $100, be slightly bigger (physically) than the Starhawk, and costed such that you can field two in a 400pt match (hence, encouraging a portion of customers to buy two). I also predict the MC85 and Resurgent will come in at this price point, should they ever make their way into the game.
Now if FFG introduces the Malevolence , I would anticipate an MSRP in the range of $150, as it should be physically smaller than the SSD but still quite huge. Time will tell! It’s an exciting time for Armada players!
Now that I'm thinking about it, since they now do hard plastic molded model kits, and have paint sets, they could start doing the bigger ships as kits. Doubt they would. But that would be a way to save shelf space and shipping.

FFG and 129 other employees like this.

Yep! 58:00 in (or so).
I don't think that the separatists will immediately get the Lucrehulk. I think that the republic might get the arquitens soon, since the molds exist already, and the republic is lacking a frigate, unless there is a battle refit pelta. (which I very much doubt)
I hope that the seperatists get a corvette or flotilla soon, because the hardcells seem very expensive. I know the pass tokens will probably minimize activation advantage in the future, but activation count is super important, and I see seperatists being even more limited than the imperials when it comes to activation count.
But a flotilla each would keep things asymmetrical, so I hope wave 3-11 is the arquitens and a separatist corvette(and if it is a big wave maybe also flotillas) to level things out a tiny bit. Although maybe they're going for a huge asymmetry thing, and seperatists will never have corvettes or flotillas

Clone Wars Wave 2 is scheduled to be released in Q1 2021, and could be as early as January. FFG has already teased the 4 ships in Wave 2: Venator, Pelta, Providence, and Recusant.
The earliest the Separatists will get the Lucrehulk is Wave 3. We don't have any idea when Wave 3 will be released.
Considering how quickly Wave 2 is following Wave 1, it suggests that FFG wants to flesh out the Clone Wars factions as quickly as possible. If that's true, Wave 3 could be released in Q2 2021.
However, I suspect that FFG had been developing and playtesting all of the ships/squadrons/commanders/cards in Waves 1 and 2 for a long time, and they had it all balanced, finalized, and ready. That's why Wave 2 is being released so quickly.
I think that for a ship like the Lucrehulk, FFG will wait and see how players use the Clone Wars ships and squadrons from Wave 1 and 2, and FFG will adjust the Lucrehulk to fill whatever gap might exist in the Separatist fleet. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Lucrehulk is withheld until GenCon 2021 (beginning of August). The Lucrehulk could be a surprise GenCon release, or, more likely, it'll be unveiled at GenCon and released late 2021.

You meant to say ANNOUNCED Q1 2021 and released in Q4 2022 as per standard FFG/Asmodee policy with just enough stock to cover 1-2 weeks of inventory at the flgs.

Don't you know that FFG only announces new Armada expansions at GenCon ? 🙄
It didn't always use to be that way... but because FFG has done it the past 3 years, the FFG cultists on this forum believe that's a commandment now, and they don't tolerate anyone questioning or criticizing FFG/Asmodee's decisions about when they post announcements, reveals, or previews for their products.
Therefore, CWA Wave 3 and possibly Wave 4 won't be announced/revealed until GenCon 2021 next August. Because as we all know, the only time of year that board game fans pay any attention to their hobby is at GenCon. 🙄

Okay, yes, this is common knowledge
I think the earilest is wave 4. No way they're going so top heavy out of the gate
I think they're linked so closely together because they're trying to release them as playable factions. Without wave 10 they wouln't be, I doubt that wave three would be released so quickly on the heels of wave 1 and 2, especially considering that over the last year playtesting probably hasn't taken place given covid19
Gencon might not even be happening next year, depending on the vaccine roll out timeline. I don't see FFG throwing stuff at its playtesters in quarter 2 of 2021 when there is still a pandemic on.

As I said before, FFG had presumably been developing and playtesting Clone Wars Armada for years before they finally revealed it at Virtual GenCon 2020. I don't believe that the pandemic effected CWA's release at all. FFG had always planned to sit on CWA until GenCon 2020 and release it December 2020.
WHY? 🤨
Who the **** knows?! I can't even to begin to understand, nevermind try to explain, why FFG (or Asmodee ) has adopted the "less is more" philosophy regarding Armada.
I believe the reason why CWA's launch (Wave 1) and Wave 2 are scheduled to be released so closely together, but inexplicably not at the same time, is because FFG/ Asmodee wants to compel players to buy multiple Fleet Starters for each faction, because they'll need a minimum of 2 Starters to fill a 400-point standard fleet. If FFG released the Wave 2 ships at the same time as the Fleet Starters, players wouldn't need more than one Fleet Starter. They could buy 1 Starter and 1 of each Wave 2 ship, and they'd probably have a 400-point fleet.
Related to this theory, if FFG released single-ship expansions for the two ships in the Fleet Starters (like they did in Armada Wave 1), players could buy exactly what they want. For example, if a player wanted to create a MSU fleet on Day 1, they could buy multiple Consular Corvette or Hardcell expansions. But FFG/Asmodee doesn't want to give players that option. By only releasing the Fleet Starters in December, if players want to create a MSU fleet, they have to buy multiple Starters -- probably 3! So they'll end up spending $200-300 to get the 4-6 small ships they want, and will be stuck with 2 or 3 medium ships they don't want -- but Asmodee doesn't care because it gets the $$$.
My theory fits perfectly with what the Asmodee suit said back in March: "(Asmodee's) vision is to do less , make it count for more ..."
Asmodee deliberately limiting customer's choices, thereby compelling them to buy more of a smaller selection of products, is the dark truth behind the business-speak BS that Asmodee suit was spouting in that interview.
As for GenCon 2021, it will happen regardless if the pandemic persists into Summer 2021 -- it'll just be Virtual GenCon, again.
Given that FFG and Asmodee are slaves to tradition, they'll probably announce Clone Wars Wave 3 and possibly 4 at Virtual GenCon 2021; and they'll be released late 2021 and early 2022, respectively.
I'd like to hope that Wave 3 will be released earlier than GenCon 2021, but FFG and Asmodee continuously disappoints me with their lazy release schedule for Armada.
