So, this may be a really silly and dumb question but I am not too sure what the correct answer is.

At the start of the game, when everyone is weak...a character lets say the wizard, lands on a space and draws a card. The card drawn is a Strength 7 dragon. The wizard has no items or spells to help. Since it is almost impossible for the wizard to win this battle, does he auto lose a life or can he choose to just simply evade it....where, nothing happens. No battle, no loss of life...just, ignored the dragon.

Is this how evading is handled in this game?

No, you can only evade creatures with a special evading ability, or with a evade spell.

I remember in an earlier edition of the game, you could evade if you rolled a 5 or 6. I guess they took that out of this edition.
