Gandalf question...

By chicoalumn, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

Gandalf's hero card ability say this:

"Once per found, after you discard a prepared skill with inspiration, you may gain 1 inspiration and scout 1."

So, he has a card I prepared with inspiration. The text says this, "During your turn, you may discard this skill to search your deck for a weakness. Remove that skill from the adventure, then shuffle your deck."

Am I allowed to use the text on both? If so, what is the proper sequence for this? Do I complete the prepared card text fully, then the hero card? Or combine steps from both?

Option 1) I discard the prepared card, then jump to the hero card text where I gain my inspiration then scout 1. After I scout 1, I search my deck for the weakness, remove it, and reshuffle the deck?

Option 2) I discard the prepared card, search for the weakness, remove it, reshuffle the deck, then do the hero card (gain 1 inspiration and scout 1)?

Lastly, I assume during testing I can use the hero card ability as well.

You are right, you can use the hero card and don't forget the card you scout (and prepare) can also be used during the test if it applies
