change to intel rules, may give grit affect on new realease

By player3691565, in Star Wars: Armada

In my eyes squadron cap together with nerfed Intel-keyword is a very good way to make squadron play great interesting again.

Well done, FFG! Hurray for devs and testers!

*claps enthusiastically*

Yeah. 4 aces and new Intel wording seems like a nice improvement.

I think fighter bombers will gain more value. Fighting through a screen efficiently is now important for a bomber list. My precious Xwings are in a good(er) spot with this.

This is a really solid and much-needed hit to Mauler. It also makes Maarek less able to continuously bomb, which is also needed. I’m absolutely thrilled with the change.

When was Maarek used with Intel?

Several times against me. Imagine Dengar jumping in effectively eliminating your fighter cover. Then Maarek bombs your ship, followed by a second strike via Jendon. Generally speaking you’ve just taken 4 damage.

I’m all for this change. My ships stay alive longer.

My point is that the more common usage forewent Intel in favor of bowling through all opposition.

I haven’t played much outside of my circle in the past 6 months, but in my experience, imperial squadron builds often enough contain Maarek, Jendon, Mauler, Dengar, and an assortment of others. It’s a solid combination that I’ve used plenty of times and can be frustrating to face. I’m glad that it’ll be a little easier to tie up both Maarek and Mauler.

Slight nerf to Moralo, as well. (Just means he has to destroy all the squads pinning him down before he can move, with his dozen-some-odd activations that turn...)

Cloaks value just went up unless it sees a similar nerf aswell. Mainly just means expect to see a bit of Wedge (officer) more in rebel lists. Currious to if there will be some intell-less mixed squards at luanch. Something to the sound of waves one A-wing and Y-wing lists.

I often used those Imp squadrons, in whole or in part. IMO the Mauler-Dengar duo is the anti-squadron equivalent of the Maarek-Jendon duo.

I'm not too worried about Maarek and Mauler getting neutralized by the Intel change; it will just require us Imperial players to adapt, which is something all good players do.

Yes, it seems like a needed adjustment without being too heavy-handed. The combinations are both still great.

I’m sort of hoping this will really help my imp MSU with a few fighters ( interceptors).

I think it helps out more the "tar pit" kind of small coverage, because it's gonna rely more on player skill to move away your fighters. Glass cannons die too fast imho and don't delay much even if the enemy cannot bypass them right away with old intel.

Hey, look on the bright side: you get to rewrite the book on squadrons again!

Amusingly enough, all my fighter squad articles have a 4 ace limit cap on the Rebel groups already.

A nerf to Intel. Halleluyah! About bloody time. Yan Orrs and Dengar were pretty much auto includes in so many lists and I won't be sorry to see the back of the old Intel that's for sure.

I'm really hoping to see smaller size squad battles and if this goes any way to taking away the squad balls it will be great for immersion and remove some of the ball fiddliness at the same time..
