WHAT IS THE BETTER BUILD FOR THE MC75?

By SOROuwu, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I just bought the MC75 and I want to know about the build,

I want to know which title suits you better if the Profundity or the Aspiration, which type of ship is better, the MC75 armored cruiser or the Ordnance cruiser and the construction for each of them

Hi and welcome to the forums! This kind of post belongs in the main forum, or possibly in fleet builds.

My two cents (because I love flying this ship):

1. Try to double-arc your targets, usually at close range.

2. They both really, really want Electronic Countermeasures with their defense token suite (unless you're flying it under Agate, none of the other defensive retrofits compete.) Otherwise you risk getting both the brace and redirect locked down in a single attack, which can occasionally mean getting 1-shotted.

3. They also both usually want External Racks because it's amazing. The Armored Cruiser isn't going to get black crits reliably, and the Ordnance Cruiser has an extra slot available anyway for Assault Proton Torpedoes or Assault Concussion missiles (these two are ideal over, say, Expanded Launchers because you can trigger them twice on the double arc.) For rerolls the Ordnance cruiser loves Ordnance Experts, whereas the Armored Cruiser tends toward Leading Shots. If you're feeling risky and want that ion slot for something else, you could potentially get away with Linked Turbolaser Towers instead though.

4. All the usual suspects for large ship officers are solid here: Strategic Adviser, Intel Officer, Walex Blissex, Lando, Raymus Antilles, etc.

5. With the remaining slots, the Armored Cruiser can be used as a carrier (Boosted Comms, Flight Controllers/Ruthless Strategists) or take a nasty boarding team like the Troopers or Shriv. You can even fly it under Ackbar and bring Gunnery Team for 5 reds out the side twice.

6. Both titles are amazing. Aspiration turns it into a tank, Profundity lets you put a Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette in a good position, which allows for some lethal combos and forking opportunities.

7. Even though the Ordnance Cruiser does more close range damage with a good crit upgrade, I can't recommend it unless you aren't expecting to fight SSDs. They tend to bring Damage Control Officer, which makes for a difficult matchup.

Here's a breakdown of the MC75 by a really good blog (published pre-SSD or Wave 8, but still relevant): http://cannotgetyourshipout.blogspot.com/2018/05/mc75.html

Good luck, hope this helps!
