Obi Ani Party Bus

Anyone else think this is worth running at all? Seems like it could be fun and frustrate some people!

Laat/i Gunship - 212th Battalion Pilot - 73
212th Battalion Pilot - (51)
Perceptive Copilot (8)
Seventh Fleet Gunner (9)
•Ghost Company (5)

Delta-7 Aethersprite - •Obi-Wan Kenobi - 57
•Obi-Wan Kenobi - Guardian of the Republic (49)
R5 Astromech (4)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)

Delta-7 Aethersprite - •Anakin Skywalker - 69
•Anakin Skywalker - Hero of the Republic (62)
R4 Astromech (2)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (5)

Total: 199/200

I've been trying to find the best LAAT to run with jedi aces as well. This is what I've thought of:

(49) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) R4-P Astromech
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
Points: 55

(62) Anakin Skywalker [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(5) R4-P17
(5) Calibrated Laser Targeting
Points: 72

(52) "Hound" [Laat/i Gunship]
(10) Plo Koon
(9) Seventh Fleet Gunner
Points: 71

Total points: 198

I think you want to be triggering 7th fleet as much as possible so you'll be taking weapons disabled a lot.

So perceptive co and ghost may just be empty points. The Laat is going to be the easiest and first target so plo is there for the easier reinforce and help with crits. This will allow you to stay alive longer than usual for 7th fleet and fore convergence to really have some positive effects.

And r4-p17 is just a good fit on Ani. And r4-p allows obi to have an open dial after a couple reds.

Why Hound? You don't have any strain/deplete shenanigans. Or is it just in case the opponent gives them to you?

Gas clouds would be the only real affect. Really he was just one point more than the generic. At the same initiative. So it probably won't come into affect but could save a jedi if it did. Maybe worth the one point.

My rule of thumb is that a LAAT shouldn't be the most expensive ship in a 3-ship list. In a 4-ship list, it will be, but then you'll have 3 pocket aces, and that's enough heft. With two Aces, unless one is really expensive and the other really cheap, LAAT should probably be the least-expensive ship.

  • I tend to think Jedi-Jedi-LAAT wants at least one 7B.
  • Perceptive Copilot/Ghost Company, to me, doesn't really seem worth it. At best it's a pair of 2 dice (3 at range 1) attacks, but costs 13 points and clashes with the 7th Fleet Gunner (can't double-tap and recharge 7FG), and leaves the LAAT the most expensive ship. I don't think it'll hold up.
    • Cutting droids from the Aethersprites and down to just 7FG would get points for a single 7B.
    • Mace + Heightened Perception is cheaper than Obi-Wan, too, and that's a nice way to save a few points, get back some droids.
    • For cheap droids, I'm kind of tempted by R4-P. Jedi seem like they often get by without needing too many red moves and don't have turn-by-turn stress, so having maximum flexibility when clearing that stress seems nice.
  • Alternately, if sticking with CLT on the Jedi, I'd go for expensive droids. C1-10P on Anakin, maybe Sense and R2-A6 on Obi. Or Regen.

Why not "Fives" instead of perCo? If you miss one of your 2 shots (likely the first one, since you don't want to spend the focus) you'll have an extra focus next turn either for two modded attacks or to use ghost company in case you couldn' t perform a regular focus action (you reinforced, bumped, whatever)

And he's just 3 points! A steal (free evades too).

All of this assuming you don't want 7th fleet gunner. If you do, you shouldn't spend anything in improving the attacks that you won't be making. Maybe Plo for protection? A bit expensive tho

In going with Bitterfigs suggestions. Here's a new variation:

LAAT and Jedi Aces

(46) Mace Windu [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(5) R4-P17
(18) Delta-7B
(3) Heightened Perception
Points: 72

(49) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(6) R2-A6
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(5) Sense
Points: 64

(52) "Hound" [Laat/i Gunship]
(9) Seventh Fleet Gunner
Points: 61

Total points: 197

High ground Obi. And 7b, heightened perception mace with r4-p17.

Mace can't use 7th fleet at range one but he can everywhere else.

The Laat is the least expensive ship and you could even drop it by another point if you go to the generic.

Thoughts?

Any CLT Jedi

Hound with Capt. Rex

This was my thought (third iteration):

"Hawk" (55)
"Fives" (3)
Kit Fisto (9)
Ship total: 67 Half Points: 34 Threshold: 5

Plo Koon (45)
Sense (5)
R4 Astromech (2)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)
Ship total: 56 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 2

Obi-Wan Kenobi (49)
Sense (5)
R4 Astromech (2)
Delta-7B (21)
Ship total: 77 Half Points: 39 Threshold: 3

Total: 200

A couple of three-Force i5 Aces backed up by added evades and a possible end-phase additional reposition, with R4 astromechs to help clear the stress/strain. Just lots of opportunity to double reposition and double mod. Oh, and Obi-Wan with the 7B to be a little bit of bait - because with Sense and double reposition and double mods, it shouldn't be too hard to line up a bullseye and punch hard even with CLT? But I've only really ever flown against Jedi, not with them, so I don't *really* know. Anyhow, my two cents.

Hound is going to shoot after any CLT Jedi, and giving a CLT Jedi a focus after they've shot doesn't seem worthwhile.

This fits, though:

  • Mace (CLT)
  • Lumi (CLT)
  • Saesee (CLT)
  • Hawk (Rex) - dude is only here for Init 4, to maybe shoot first, and light up other folks with focus tokens.

Rex Warthog with 3 generic Jedi Knights would do the same things, but with 25 points to spare, there's kind of nothing to spend them on. I2 Torrent doesn't seem worth here. 7FG seems handy on a LAAT, but with the 16 after that, there's kind of nothing. Palp or force crew on the LAAT seems like over-investing in something vulnerable. Triple R5 for repairs on the Jedi?

I played Saesee, Lumi, Mace (all CLT and Sense on Mace), and AnaKID (intimidation) the other day against 6 crackshot nantexes and had a blast. I beat them but it was close. Another version was with R2 with dorsal, seismics and wolfpack for support instead of the Naboo, but I didn’t get to play it. Haven’t tried the laat yet

Could use the points to swap one Jedi to a 7B variant? With a LAAT, having a native 3 Dice attack is amazing.

First idea for me with this is:

Laat/i Gunship - •“Hawk” - 74
•“Hawk” - Valkyrie 2929 (55)
Intimidation (3)
•Aayla Secura (16)

Delta-7 Aethersprite - •Anakin Skywalker - 67
•Anakin Skywalker - Hero of the Republic (62)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (5)

Delta-7 Aethersprite - •Obi-Wan Kenobi - 58
•Obi-Wan Kenobi - Guardian of the Republic (49)
Sense (5)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)

Total: 199/200

It is not the best idea though.
