Fixated (First Order)

By Synel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

What thoughts do people have about this list? The interesting tactic is that the FO provocateurs can deplete on first attack to lock focus, preserve lock, and go for a miss. Next turn, if positioning allows it, strain-barrel roll, Focus, add calculate if in and my arc. It feels like there’s a lot of possibility here.

Hrm. I'm not sure.

Part of the strength of Provocateurs is that they can naturally Focus/Lock. Having Lock/Calculate/(reposition) would also be pretty nice, but I don't know that I like giving up control of targeting with a ship that will often take a Lock.

I mean, it won't be bad, I think it's really hard to build a bad First Order list (well, with the Xi, maybe it might be going forwards), but ATP seems like it might work against the strengths of the Provocatuer.

I think Kylo+3 provocateurs is better tbh

Probably! I just don’t give three so I was in “build with what I have” mode.

i think a.t.p. is better on sf with missiles... so you can more easely chose the range

Fair! In that case, I find proud longshot more consistent than Scorch, suprisingly.

Really? I am surprised. I have only tried longshot a couple of times, so I didn’t get used to his ability. What sort of tactics do you choose with them that prove effective?

Honestly, I just treat him like a regular FO. The thing about him is that on turns when you're turning around, you're likely engaging at 3 anyways so with proud you get that focus as well. Scorch has initiative on him but has his dial crippled by the self stress.
