Triple MC30 list

By Aahz 1, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Been playing with this list, trimming it down to get the bid as I think this fleet really wants to be first player. It’s pretty nimble and fairly hardy (as far as small bases can be, anyway). Think 20 points is sufficient bid? I cut out Lando and slicers on a GR75 to get it down to 380.

I’m not sold on having Agate on a MC30. For the same price you can have Dodonna, and drop all those defence add-ons to upgrade all your Ex Racks to APT (keep the titles though). If you jiggle your points about as well you might fit in Tycho and Shara as you only have your speed to help against being mobbed by Squadrons. Keep your MC30’s lean (and mean!).

With Dodonna all your MC30’s and your CR90 benefits if you keep TRC’s.

Hers what I was thinking of.

CR90 Corvette A (44)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
= 51 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
• H9 Turbolasers (8)
• Foresight (8)
= 108 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
• Admonition (8)
= 80 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
= 72 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
= 18 Points

Squadrons:
• Shara Bey (17)
• Tycho Celchu (16)
= 33 Points

Total Points: 382

I put Foresight and H9’s on Dodonna’s MC30 as you could use that as the last MC30 to commit, or as a dedicated flotilla hunter to shut down those scatter tokens. Ditch H9’s and the titles to reduce the points and afford XI7’s for all three (plus Jainas Light and Lando for the CR90, and possibly transfer Dodonna to that).

As someone who has a lot of experience with MC30s, I would say that the A-Wing aces are almost mandatory for a triple MC30 list. And I would consider Madine or Mothma instead of Dodonna, simply because they both synergize very well with that ship. And in Mothma's case, defensive cards aren't necessary. But if you insist on defensive upgrades, I would stick with Advanced Projectors because it somewhat defends you from XI7s, the only true weakness of the ship.

Some other things to think about: Bright Hope + Toryn on a flotilla for dice control, especially for the squadrons. It can double up the points they score before they are destroyed.

If you go with Dodonna, APT instead of ExRax to maximize his ability. If you need the points, drop the IX7s. They are more useful from long range than close anyway.

The flagship should be Admonition (with Lando or Walex). Or Foresight with Derlin. With Mothma these combinations are surprisingly hard to take down.

The FAQ said that Advanced Projectors does not protect against XI7’s. It’s good for fighters though.

Xi7 turBolasers
Even if the defender is equipped with Advanced Projectors, XI7 Turbolasers prevents the defender from suffering more than one damage in total on hull zones other than the defending hull zone.
For example, if an attack deals four damage, a defender with Advanced Projectors must suffer at least three damage on the defending hull zone; the fourth damage can be suffered on any hull zone.

As stated by Norell, Mothma is a good choice so if you can spare the points she is a good fit over Dodonna.

Thanks guys! Yes, I am doing something different than a typical Dodonna APT mix on the MC30s. My goal is to get in fast with a double arc and do a ton of damage in one activation, while having a little staying power to survive getting into range for those shots.

I think it was previewed that the next iteration of the FAQ will let Advanced Projectors work a little better against XI7s, though I don’t know what that means for Foresight.

You're right of course. For some reason I confused the card with expert shield techs. I have no idea how I did it though... But my point still stands: Expert Shield Techs mitigate the XI7 issue on MC30s because it has redundant tokens and can use them even if it has no shields left.

I was referring to the new version that is coming in the new card pack. erHPGZW.jpg
