Sideslip Video Take Two

By BCooper85, in X-Wing

So after I jumped the gun and got it wrong in my first 'Snap Shots!' video here it is again but the right way. Lessons learnt!

Here's a visual aide in one image

What's with all the extra 3-straights?

Also, the new example in the Rules Reference is actually really good. It even explicitly explains that it's the same as if you put the template in front of the ship and then moved it to the side.

They're template aides that are spawned when you resolved a bump with a ship, which I manually caused to make this image. They give off a visual to the player about how the collision was resolved and give a sense on how the ship was backtracked into position. If you only used the real template shape, you would often get one of the extremeties hidden under the ship when it's backtracked just a little. The extra part makes it extra clear how the front of the ship (or the side for sideslips) was aligned.

As the dev of this vassal x-wing module, it was immensely helpful to get sideslip programmed right. If a bug ever happened (and it doesn't), the player could have the means to fine-tune correct the position of the ship.

I am not sure what you two are on about?

BCooper85, You have made an FFG thread on the Sideslip manouver. Ihmo Goldsquadron made another excellent video visualising it and explaining it too which may be helpfull for other FFG forum users as it were for me. Me posting this other video bumps YOUR thread on top of the forum page for more viewers to see, actually helping you. So please explain?

Btw, and if any of you too think you own something on these pages you are wrong, and you should both be happy you are able to post links to your own video material getting in principle free advertising for your own videos/youtube channels/etc.

The beauty of taking things the wrong way on the internet!

I took it as you butting in and showing a video to watch instead. I'll acknowledge GSP's is more in depth so take your pick.

I don't feel I 'own' anything here, far from it. To me your intent wasn't clear and I took it one way. If that wasn't the case then apologies.

Apologies accepted Captain Needa ;)
No worries, I ment no disrespect to your video which I found nice as well. I only wanted to help because I really think the side-slip is a really cool idea and I hope that FFG continues to bring in novel ideas about our favorite game.

Now you are the OT so I dont want to derail things any further if you want this thread strickly on "how to side-slip"... but if I were you would have used this thread to have people bring up interesting scenarios where this side-slip is one of the most arc-dodgery moves there is. E.g. with Sense on a Sith like Dooku it is possible in the systems phase to determine which of the moves is optimal for a HMP to perform regular versus sideslip. Hey it could actually be an idea for a video you could make and can post if you want.

Good point! Always looking for more video ideas 👍
