Movie Characters & Careers

By Santiago, in Dark Heresy

Not realy a contest but more a way to inspire 40K Noobs to create cool characters,
So name appropriate characters, the movie and which class they would typically belong too.

Note: They should be appropriate to DH

Riddick - Pitch Black/Chronicles of R. - Assassin
Johny Rico - Starship Trooper I & III - Imperial Guardsman
Rick Deckard - Blade Runner - Arbitrator
Lady Jessica - Dune - Adept
Paul Muahdib - Dune - Psyker?
Thufir Hawat - Dune - Adept
Judge Dredd - Judge Dredd - Arbitrator
Han Solo - Star Wars - Scum

Ooh, fun!
While playing a character from a movie as a direct port into a rpg can be a little tacky, stealing the character concept/personality/quirks of one as inspiration for an original character is a great idea.

I'm trying to think of some characters, but I'm stuck at the moment!

Tetragrammaton Clerics-Equlibrium- Schola Progenium Assassin

Zorg-5th Element- Noble Born Scum

Corbin Dallas- 5th Element- Hive World Guardsmen

Tank Girl- Feral World Guard

R. J. MacReady (Helicopter pilot) - Arbitrator

Dr. Blair (station biologist) – Tech Priest (Biologis)

Childs (station mechanic) - Tech Priest (Mechanicus)

Shaun of the Dead

Shaun – Scum

Liz – Adept

Ed – Scum

Dianne – Adept

David – Adept

The Bourne Movies

Jason Bourne – Assassin

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Alan Quatermain – Guardsman

Tom Sawyer – Arbitrator

Cpt Nemo – Tech Priest

Jason Bourne – Assassin

Jason Bourne is, in fact, the epitome of (and likely inspiration for) the Mind-Cleansed Assassin...

Nope, ultimate psyker + Emperor lengua.gif

What an absolutely cool idea, Santiago. I think that I can one-up that... but that's a story for Dark Reign . gran_risa.gif

Kage

Event Horizon

Captain Miller Guardsman

Dr Weir Adept

Med Tech Peters Tech Priest (Biologis)

The Black Hole

No idea, but Im guessing several Adepts, a Tech Priest and a Guardsman, plus annoying robots.

Farscape

John Crichton Adept

Aeryn Sun Assassin (maybe Guardsman)

Dargo Guardsman

Rygel Noble Scum

Chianna Dark Eldar Scum

Zhaan Psyker (more like Sorcerer)

Stark Psyker

Scorpius Tech Priest

Lt. Bracca Guardsman

Han Solo - Star Wars - Scum

Hum, to me Han Solo will definitely be a rogue trader rather than a scum. I don't really think there is a career that suits him into the DH setting...

But it's just my point of view gui%C3%B1o.gif

Personally I dont think any of the careers in DH really work. As far as Arbitrator, Assassin, and Guardsman go it seems a lot of different charts and tables and pages wasted to create three variant fighter types. And I dont see why Sisters of Battle needed their own career of 8 pages of text, charts and rules when they are merely a variant of the Cleric career IMHO and would have fit as a background package and alternate career rank or two.

I dont think the Scum succeeds in filling all the areas it should, rogue, charmer, street thug, ganger, highway man, cat burglar, pick pocket, scout, and so forth.

The only thing careers should do is give you your basic skills, talents and initial upgrades and some equipment. But thats just me.

So with that being said, I see Han Solo, in DH, as being a Guardsman or Arbitrator with a specialized Background package and a alternate career rank.

I'm agree with you on these points, even if I will be more categoric about some of the base career.

For exemple, to me the guardsman doesn't have his place in the DH setting. As for the noble origin...

But I think it just a way to push famous figures of the WH40K universe forward. I suppose most of the players who were waiting for this game expected some of them (the tech-priest, assassin and imperial psyker cannot be ignored by the game conceptors). It's logical too if they don't exactly correspond to the idea we could have of them. The careers are just templates, stereotyped examples of what such cleric or such arbitrator could became.

After all It's up to us to change them for a more convenient version. Just as we imaginate them before the release of the core rulebook...
