Factionless: Looking for a new one.

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Hey. Been a hot frakking minute. It's your old pal adversary Dodger, and I'm looking for a new faction. As for what I've really played or can afford to...

Rebels 2, Resistance: You know, I tried to go all-in on these boys, but they will forever be "That RZ2 faction" and I really couldn't care less at this point. I'm not into using the hyper-agiles, I'm a Y-Wing girl and I guarantee the BTA-NR2s will perform well but won't change the faction. Or maybe they will and I'll regret saying that forever.

Rebels actual: Look, I don't care about The Rebellion, X-Wings, or whatever. I like Y-Wings and that's about it but you could definitely convince me to give these dudes a shot proper because none of their ships actually suck as far as I can tell.

Republic: They... seem the most interesting to me right now. Lots of options with high health and respectable mid-range damage, very cool synergy and wonderfully clean but not overclean designs. Also a good reason to bust out the Padme mini I got a few months back, which I have left out, card included just to spite collectors who may someday witness my stuff.

First Order: I'm not putting them on the table without a lot of repainting and a lot of rekitting but functionally these guys have really, really got it going on. The new stuff looks great so far but I'm really behind on mechanics and interactions now, gents.

Empire: Unless I'm flying Imperial Beef I do not care at all. I REALLY love the TIE/RB with its maneuver assist and the synced laser cannons on a Generic, it's dummy lethal. I'd love to use Gunboats but they need to reprint the suckers and you'll bet once they do I'll be buying like, ten because I'm a sod enough to want to modify them too. If you can convince me that chonky Imperials are viable I will go for it.

Scum: Couldn't care less, zero identity.

Separatists: Yeah okay kind of neat but I don't love droids. Or space capitalists.

I have clear preferences. I like high HP and mid-to-high firepower, not because it's forgiving, but I like being able to irritate my opponent with unkillable ships. Which maybe means regen is the way I should do things, but man Delta-7Bs are rightfully out of this game and I could hardly be happier about ousting just-flat-out-better-X-Wings.

So hit me. Tell me what's up.

I keep being tempted by Republic Y-Wings. *ducks*

I just all the ships, that's all. Silencers are FUN. Extra dodgy, extra green-dicey X-Wings. TIE/sf are like Y-Wings with 2 green/6 health statline, instead of 1 green/8 health.

Thematically, like half the First Order defects anyhow, and that's what my headcannon is.

Welcome back! You could help me crack the straight LAAT/I list code for funsies. Does all the things of beef with thick body, reinforce, missiles. Or a LAAT/Y-wings list would be a neat concept. I say Republic. Because the fun challenge to it is to use the faction without it's Jedi.

Speaking of, anyone know when the LAAT (and company) drops? I was remembering this week but now I'm uncertain. I was still expecting points this week too?

The 25th is supposedly the release date for the latte and others.

Not super competitive but I've had fun with Kanan and Kallus ghosts, loaded with upgrades. Between their abilities, reinforce, and defensive mods Kallus can tank a lot of shots.

Padme and Luminara do make an irritatingly unkillable pair, and the LAAT looks like it will be a great beefy support. Also, a republic ywing list made a pretty good showing at Concord Dawn.

Can I interest you in the noble quadjumper?

Go FO or republic.

FO because all their chassis are awesome. The interceptor is viable regardless of which of the 4 pilots you fly. Silencers are amazing as we know. The SF and FO TIE are solid. In a few days they are getting a medium base shuttle for support and to steal illicits from Scum.

Republic because they are getting a lot of new ships in the next few months: LAAT in a few days, ETA-2 and V-wing in a few months. Their chonky Y-Wings are cool. A 5 Y-wing list placed well in the latest GSP tournament, I think it was top 16 out of like 150+. Ion cannon turrets and proton bombs and like 500 health, what's not fun about that?

That's what was in my head. Oh, could I get that with an American standard double espresso pour please? Lol.

Anyway, so that would make points announcement then what, Wednesday? Tomorrow?

Your fired. Get. Out.

(Lol 😜 jk)

Seems like Republic (clones, mostly) would be your cup of tea. ARCs, LAATs, Torrents, and Ys.

Go republic. It’s got chunky and nimble and lots of new toys.
arcs are slow heavy gunships with rear arc you’ve also got torrents and soon the LAAT

really the n1s are pretty fun too I like kitting them out with torpedoes

aren’t you the 5Y with proton bombs and turrets backwards only person?
Why don’t you just keep going with the ships you want and forget about faction.
play the Ys, get the new Y2s when they come out, play some gunboats.
I’d advocate trying some upsilons and tie sf

tie punishers, bombers and aggressors might be up your alley too

Hey Fig! Glad to see the input.

Half The First Order defects? Did I miss something..? Because that's SUPER interesting.

Be happy to. Ran like six in Fly Casual or something and had great fun rerolling each other - though that mechanic DEFINITELY shouldn't work for other LAAT/Is tbh! But With Y-Wing escort? Hoho, yes! Very good stuff!

Also hey you!

Good stuff to know. I respect your love or respect (both?) for the Quadjumper but nah, I'd just buy a bunch of first edition ones and scrap them for their FAT engines to bolt onto other stuff. Like Y-Wings with Engine Upgrade and Expert handling!!

Great to see people truly, truly appreciating the might of The First Order at this point because I was saying like **** near a year ago they were probably the best faction in the game. Can't WAIT for their bombers! The Republic seems to really slap in the best possible way too.

And hey!! ICT+Proton Bombs was my idea!! I'm so happy to see that list doing well!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaa!

That's meeeeeeeee, hey Blail! Glad you liked that list btw. Yeah, your suggestions seem on point tbh.

As for faction, iunno I get bored, but it seems I've found the style that I like doesn't it?

Scum: Couldn't care less, zero identity.

They've got junky Ywings.

And they're not Rebs or Resistance.

For competition...they're super fun.

As for your bend towards Republic... Go for it . Y's, ARCs, Purple everywhere... Probably always going to be good.

Well, the "half" of conversation.

Finn, to start. Hux and Phasma both are traitors, after a fashion. Jannah and the other former Stormtroopers. Kylo, ultimately.

Great to see you back! I would also say Republic probably fits what you're looking for, as far as I can tell.

BOO.

But yes. Republic. Like everyone said.

Their Y Wings are gud. So pretty.

Rebels are where it's at

We have the best pilot ability in the game (norra) in a Y-wing.

We also have the second best pilot ability in the game (dutch) in a Y-wing.

We have other ships that are really good friends with the Y-wing.

We have ships that are fun and easy to get the hang of.

Based on recent tournaments, there's a lot of us but most of us suck.

But we have wookies and sabine in the attack shuttle.

Sounds good. Fits to how I want to reflavor them too!

Ohhh, right. I mean, Phasma was more of a survivalist than a traitor, but yes. I thought you meant some broader thing! But hey, given how the rebellion spread across the entire galaxy that's actually very viable.

Seems like it!! We'll see if it's good to be back or not, depending on how some members respond or rear their heads.

It's a strong case... I may consider it.

I think republic fits your preferences well. Broadside and matchstick are great y wings, arcs are good and torrents are tough-ish. The Laat will be tough as well. I enjoy flying obi (clt not 7b) with 2 arcs and a y wing. It's nice mix of durability and ace play.

First order is neat if you want a change of pace. Fo salad lists are a unique blend of limited and generics and the xi should improve them. The FO has the some of the best filler in the game backdraft, scorch, and longshot can fit fit into a variety of lists. Holo is a lot of fun. I dont think half of them defect but enough of them do.

Hey, welcome back! I like First Order for the kinda stuff you’re talking about, but Resistance also has a similar playstyle if you ignore A-Wings.
once you pick a faction you should come play with us in the Galaxy at War league, it’s super fun :) https://xwinggalaxyatwar.wordpress.com/

Embrace the Clones. The triple Y-Wings are whispering to you. But not in a creepy way.

The LAAT backing up a combo of ARC's and Y's seems right up your alley

Join the Republic! Save the galaxy, and unleash the ARCs, Ys, and Laats

Republic has quad ARCs and there are only two kinds of lists, quad ARCs and not enough ARCs. Of course not enough ARCs tend to be good lists but does that really make up for not having enough ARCs? No it does not!

I would say my tongue is firmly planted in cheek there but I also would not believe it if I did.

You're looking for a new faction? But we already have 7! /s

Republic has an exciting future ahead with all the new toys they have coming out. They also have Y-Wings which seems to be a thing for you, so they have that going for them.

Obi+CLT, Plo+CLT, Y-Wing+Dorsal (x3) is on my short list of lists for mustafar
