Not exactly it’s birthday but Yay! 🎟🍾πŸ₯³

It's both my mother-in-law's and my brother's birthday, does that count?

Is this a worldwide release or US only?

Oh boy, movie theatres. Let me get right in on that.

An opportunity to be missed here in Michigan.

My 19 and 17 year old sons and I went to see New Mutants last night at the local AMC theater. 6 cars in the parking lot, we had the theater to ourselves!

The entire family will be heading there Friday to watch Empire!

I will not be part of the reason movie theaters close up.

I went to the movie theatre to see Tenet and New Mutants nearly a month ago, and the theatre experience was fine.

But I'm not going risk going to a movie theatre to see Empire Strikes Back.

Firstly, I own at least 4 copies of ESB, so spending another $20 on it doesn't make sense. Second, my $$ would be going to Disney, not George Lucas, and Disney must to earn back my trust before they'll receive any of my $$ -- and a blatant cash-grab exploiting nostalgia for the glory days of the Original Trilogy is not the way Disney will regain my patronage. Third, the 2nd Wave of the pandemic appears to have arrived so going to the movie theatre is an unnecessary risk. I believe that the people who attend indoor parties and rallies are stupid and reckless, so it would be hypocritical of me to engage in similar behaviour -- even though the movie theatre does responsibly enforce social distancing and mask-wearing rules, which makes them much safer than those other events.

Admittedly, if a new blockbuster movie were being released, I might go to the movie theatre to see it. I certainly would have for Wonder Woman, if it had not been delayed. And I probably will for Black Widow and No Time To Die -- assuming that they're not delayed again. But seeing ESB in the theatre just isn't worth it IMO. Certainly not to support the movie theatre chains after AMC announced back in April that they wouldn't screen any films Universal Pictures because Trolls World Tour was released on PVOD. The theatre chains only care about $$, not their employees' lives and livelihoods or their customers' health and safety, so AMC's greedy hollow-suits can go to ****.

That said... I'll probably watch Empire Strikes Back from the comfort and safety of my home theatre tonight! 😎
