Squadron Command used on engaged squadrons

By Nanich, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hey folks,

New to the game. When you use a Squadron Command you can move and attack with squadron.

This is different from the actions during the Squadron Phase. During the Squadron Phase, you can either move or attack. However, if a squadron engaged, it can only attack.

What I am not clear on is when you use a Squadron Command on squadrons that are engaged, are you still able to move them? The Squadron Command section is not make reference to this limitation as it does in the Squadron Phase. The Squadron Command also does not make reference that the Command over rides the Squadron Phase section.

Any insight would be great.

Are the enemy squadrons you're engaged with heavy? Are you using a squadron command on Tycho? Are you using a squadron command with a ship that has Admiral Chiraneau equipped? If any of the above are "yes," then you can move your squadron during the squadron phase. (There may be another exception I'm not recalling.) But normally, no.

You could move an engaged squadron with a command if the squadron destroys any squadrons it is engaged with first.

All the rules and keywords and abilities for a squadron being engaged still apply even if the squadron is ordered by a command. The squadron command simply removes the limitation of only move or only shoot.

It is correct that engaged squadrons normally may not move. However, if a squadron destroys all its enemies and is therefore no longer engaged, it may move as part of this squadron command.

EDIT: Didn't see Thestag's posting... ^_^
