Battle Royal question

By Londoncalling, in Talisman Rules Questions

A question arose when playing last night about battle royal.

we were all playing characters that got spells back at start of their respective turns. Does the whole battle royal take part in just one turn or is each respective fight between characters a seperate turn??

any idea please..

As the card states that the winner of the fight then fights another person I would say that it is all one turn.

However this does mean anyone that casts a spell that increases their stats untill their end of turn they will last the whole fight.

I feel the "turn concept" when playing Battle Royale must be clarified, since the discussion had already bent towards the wrong direction, IMHO.

It's not possible that an effect is "frozen" for X combat rolls. This is opposite to what happens in the rest of the game, when everything has a proper duration which limits its power. There are too many spells such as Brainwave, Weakness and also the controversial Toadify that are completely confusing if you consider Battles Royale as one infinite Turn, made of subsequent battles.

It's far more simple, linear and IMO correct to consider each battle as a separate Turn, just as you will do with standard COC fights. The only difference is: with Battle Royale there's no turn sequence to respect, but a winning Character may take multiple turns in a row instead.

If a Toad is "ignored" for three turns, he reverts back to normal. Weakness, Brainwave, Energize last only for one battle. I don't see a reason why Battle Royale should change all time restrictions of Spells and possibly make some temporary bonuses permanent.

Good explanation. I kind of think along those terms also.
