A new mobile game, Starfighter Missions, is coming out next month and it includes a number of FFG created pilots, particularly in the Empire and First Order factions. It also includes portraits for most of the featured pilots, giving us our first look at pilots like Quickdraw and Rexler Brath.

I know very little about the game, but this might be the rare sort of mobile game that's actually up my street. I'll spend my commutes painfully grinding and trying to ignore the prompts to pay real money to unlock Wedge, sure.

Hero Commentary:

Norra Wexley doesn't look like she takes crap from anyone.

We need Yolo Ziff in the game. Yolo is too good of a meme name to pass up.

Villain Commentary:

Interesting that they give us Ember and Holo's faces but not Vonreg.

Midnight (Omega Leader) is now canonically a guy. QD and Holo are now canonized as female. QD we had surmized, but I don't know where we at on Holo. Ember and Backdraft are male.

This General Weir wears a black Scout helmet? Seems odd for spaceflight.

Overall impression:

Cool. Give us the new named pilots.

2 new pilots each for the Y-Wing , RZ-1, and T70.

1 new pilot each for the TIE Bomber and TIE Defender. 2 new pilots each for the TIE Interceptor and TIE Fighter. 3 pilots for the FO Bomber.

I'm definitely speculating that Yolo and the other new T-70 pilot are going to be the two as yet unrevealed new pilots in Heralds of Hope.

And yeah, Yolo for sure needs to be in the game. Pair him with Resistance Han for the ultimate Yolo list.

Possibly not wanting to step on Resistance's toes there? I guess they might want to leave his look to the people that created his character originally.

Also, I felt like Ember and Holo should have been the other way round.

As for pilots they strangely kept under a helmet, Major Rhymer is an even weirder example.

Omega Leader was always a guy.

A couple of people wanted to assume he was female, and that got floated around in common talk a lot, but I always maintained Omega Leader was male.

Quickdraw definitely feels like a nod to the X-Wing TMG fans.

She even looks a bit like Katee Sackhoff, which I'm sure was a popular community depiction.

General Weir is such a random pick.

He's a character from a pretty obscure Legends one shot comic that often gets bundled with the Rogue Squadron comics. Why they went for him when a certain Legendary Baron is right there, I have no idea.

He's a Storm Commando, hence the black Scout style helmet.

This kinda inadvertently suggests Storm Commandos are canon too, which is odd because I assumed they'd been replaced by Death Troopers in canon.

I 100% beleive the next FO ship will be the FO Bomber. The TIE Whisper is a strong contender, but with 2 Intercepty ships already in the faction, a bomber makes more sense to round the faction out.

This is interesting. Looks like they're throwing a nod to the disagreement because Midnight's image shows someone who could be either male or female (I've met gals with similar facial set ups and there is no "adam's apple" visible in the image).

For sure. I bet they modeled him after a famous rapper*, but had to cancel that depiction of him.

*even when the paths are all crookedy.
