Guys, can we use this thread for Legion players to provide us updates on their pre-orders, LGS availability, and what they may hear regarding delays/availability for Clan Wren and Inferno Squad? I thought we could use this thread to provide news and updates since both sets are coming out this Friday. Let us know if you hear anything from your FLGS, getting your pre-order notifications, etc. I hope I didn't break any Forum rules with this post. Thanks everyone.
Edited by MesrobAvailability of Inferno Squad and Clan Wren
Some UK suppliers already have had their delivery. I got my copies on Sunday (stupidly early) so I can confirm they exist. My LGS though appeared to sell out Clan Wren on pre-order and only had one or two Inferno extra (also now sold out).
Got my shipping notification from Asmodee this morning on my STAP and Clan Wren.
Got a shipping notification for Clan Wren as well
Theres tons of inferno squads out there. I dont think anybody wants them lol.

Why do you think that? Are they not very good competitively?

theyre essentially just way worse deathtroopers. there is no conceivable situation where I would ever use special forces over deathtroopers.
you also cant run two units out of one box which is irritating. irritating enough that some people wont buy it.
I bought the box just to get gideon hask and del meeko because I wanted to use them with snowtroopers in my palpatine list. But I never use the special forces unit or inferno squad. I dont see the point to either unit when deathtroopers arnt that many more points and are substantially better in every way.
but you shouldnt have any problems at all finding inferno squad online.
Edited by KhobaiMy local store in Ireland recieved delivery today and still have plenty online. (They didnt have enough Arcs or BXs to fulfil pre orders)

This remains to be seen or proven. It looks like the new special forces are designed for alpha strikes, flanking, or objective work, and are in general far more flexible than Death Troopers. Death Troopers are still superior if you're just looking for a gunline unit though. Honestly, I think they open up a lot of new tactics for the Imperials besides "I'll make a camp here and shoot everything". The clones seemingly do that better right now anyways.
The only advantage Special Forces get over Deathtroopers is infiltrate and infiltrate doesnt make them competitive.
Infiltrate is the exact opposite of what imperials want to do in the current meta. What imperials want to do is "camp here and shoot everything". Imperials need to stay outside of the range 3 deathzone and use their range 4 weapons to whittle down the enemy units as much as possible. Decent range 4 weapons are sadly the only advantage imperials have right now because theyre worse than GAR in just about every other way.
Deathtroopers are ideal for that because they give you decent range 4 firepower early on and absolutely killer range 2 firepower for when you close in on the objectives. They are way more flexible than Special Forces.

Always the optimist aren't you... 😏
granted I am often pessimistic but this is not me being pessimistic. its simply the truth.
reliable 1 is worse than surging on everything naturally.
marksman is worse than disciplined 1, precise 2, weapon configs, multiple weapons, a red die in melee, etc...
so what exactly are the special forces doing thats better? all they have is infiltrate and thats not good enough. believe me I really wanted to like the special forces unit but theyre just not good. I suppose you can proxy deathtroopers using inferno squad since deathtroopers are impossible to find right now. But thats the only use I can think for them.
Sadly the only reason I can see for buying the box (aside from deathtrooper proxies) is for the special characters which you mostly end up sticking in corps units anyway because you never use the special forces units. so if theres a silver lining its that gideon hask and del meeko are both pretty good in corps units.
I really like gideon hask in snowtrooper units because he gives them a decent range 3 firepower bump and a non-sucky alternative to the flamethrower. the flamethrower hasnt been working for me for a while now. Gideon Hask lets snowtroopers jump out from hiding, shoot, then jump back into hiding which is a much more effective way to use the unit right now.
And del meeko is decent with speeder bike lists to get them back upto 3 health. speeder bikes arnt in the best place right now with the huge GAR attack pools but he can sometimes help them stay alive for a turn longer especially against other factions like CIS that are more inclined to chip away at the speeder bikes with white dice.

I want one just for Gideon...
@Khobai is there any aspect of this game that you actually like? I have literally seen you complain about every faction across a dozen different threads. From Vader sucks, he’s dies to easily, to grievous sucks because he’s not a cheap cis commander, all speeders suck but particularly the t-47, to clones are op they need to nerfed (in 5 different threads) to now inferno squad sucks because their not as good as death troopers in a gun line. I mean I get it, legion isn’t perfect but to derail every thread with this or that isn’t good enough or this is too powerful isn’t benefiting anyone. If you want to gripe about a unit or faction, at least have the courtesy to start your own thread about it.

These are unqualified and unjustified assertions, neither of which count as truth. The units haven't been released yet, haven't seen time on the board yet, and there definitely hasn't been a tournament of any kind to back up this claim. In time you may be proven right or you may be proven wrong, but at best you are speculating.
So it looks like, so far, folks in Europe are getting their pre-order's filled. That appears to be a great sign. Looks like we may avoid the lack of supply this time around.

Amazing what not having an unspecified amount of product (supposedly) suffer unspecified water damage will do to help stocks. 😛

Deathtroopers cost 76 with no upgrades; Imperial Special Forces cost 68 with no upgrades. Throw in the DLT-19D and the T-21, and the comparison becomes Deathtroopers at 110 versus ISF at 97. I would expect the more expensive Deathtroopers to outclass the ISF. At the same time, I can certainly conceive of situations where I would accept the almost-but-not-quite-as-good ISF in exchange for spending those extra points elsewhere in the army.

Allegedly.
Or so the rumors go.
At least that's what this one guy who knows things said.
C'mon FFG/Asmodee, will a little communication kill ya? Anybody else remember when the Clone Wars release kept being delayed, and FFG promised/implied they would start being more open about what was happening? Or did I just dream that up?
On topic: Based on the reports I'm hearing between here, FB, and Discord, it sounds like Inferno Squad and Clan Wren orders are being fullfilled. The shortage this time seems to be with Tauntauns Mk II, commonly referred to as STAPs. Here's hoping GAR players don't get shafted again and AT-RTs dry up.
I'll chime in from my game-shopless region of the world to say I got my shipping notification yesterday as well. For me, they should be delivered on Monday (Inferno Squad and ATRT)!
@GooeyChewie Deathtroopers are also worse at supporting Infiltrating Commanders/Operatives, so I could see taking Inferno/Imperial Special Forces in that case as well.
@Alpha17 Yeah... I remember that as well... And something very similar after the "Dewbackle"... Yet nothing really changes. Personally I think that's the fault of the private equity firm, open reporting of issues is likely not considered a good idea from their perspective, but I digress.
I can't say I'm surprised if the new units for the more recent factions who are still playing catch-up might be more popular than more units with less "main stream" visibility (here meaning the movies primarily).
Edited by Caimheul1313I’m in the US and got the Asmodee shipping notification for Inferno Squad / Clan Wren yesterday.
My FLGS ordered 10 staps and they are only getting 3. No idea if its another ARCS situation or just poor communication. They are getting all the AT-RTs they ordered though
