Xcalpel Xquadron

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

This started off as "how many X-wings can be feasibly fitted into a standard fleet?" The answer I arrived at was 7, after considering all the other squadron multipliers that benefit the group more than an adding an xtra X-wing. Leia to command all those squadron bodies with redundancy to spare.

Xcapel Xquadron (134/394/400)
=========================

CR90 Corvette A (44 + 41: 85)
· Leia Organa (38)
· Tantive IV (3)

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 + 5: 62)
· Yavaris (5)

CR90 Corvette A (44 + 7: 51)
· Liberator (2)
· All Fighters, Follow Me! (5)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 14: 32)
· Bomber Command Center (8)
· Boosted Comms (4)
· Bright Hope (2)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 12: 30)
· Bomber Command Center (8)
· Boosted Comms (4)

Biggs Darklighter (19)
Jan Ors (19)
Norra Wexley (17)
Rogue Squadron (14)
5 x X-wing Squadron (5 x 13)

Precision Strike
Fighter Ambush
Superior Positions

Since I was using yavaris here though I figured it would be better to squeeze some double dice bombers in, and give the neb more teeth:

Xcapel Xquadron /B (121/400/400)

· Quad Battery Turrets (5)
· Yavaris (5)

· Salvation (7)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 12: 30)

Deployment is really simple. Nebs at the centre of formation forming a gunline with the squad ball in the centre front. The redundant BCCs fly on the flanks and can lend BCC to the ball even if one flot gets popped, with Leia at the back. It's something I had a lot of fun flying. Salvation is actually a surprise squadron pusher when Yavaris falls, I'm considering swapping to FC Vanguard although the anti-squad of the X-wings already seems good enough.

How about this? 😁

MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
• General Rieekan (30)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• External Racks (3)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
= 149 Points

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
• Yavaris (5)
= 62 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Boosted Comms (4)
= 22 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
= 26 Points

Squadrons:
• Biggs Darklighter (19)
• Jan Ors (19)
• 7 x X-wing Squadron (91)
= 129 Points

Total Points: 388

The MC75 adds a bit more bite, and Yavaris just does one job, and one job well! The extra 12 points can be spent on other upgrades to suit. Maybe drop Jan and add in Wedge to make it 9 X Wings?

Interesting build! I didn't think about an MC75. This gives the fleet two strong pieces in the 75 and the Yav.

If there are points to spare maybe can add AST to the Yav, I find it keep it in the fight that much longer and allows Yav to get in 1 more squad command (although granted that Rieekan is here so maybe Flight Commander instead). I don't know about having only 1 BCC because I think it's a key upgrade to making X-wing spam viable, unless one is good at keeping the only BCC alive yet close enough to help the X-wings stay on target.

I know this is all about moar X-Wings, but swapping one of them for Norra would make the rest legit bombing threats.

Don’t forget Leia will be coming down 10points. Maybe the bid. With squads I favor acm either removes redirect option from the ship or now that 2 extra damage for the ship. Flight commander on Yararis and BBC allows some forgiveness on squad placement

Wasn't ruled that BCC does not stack? I dont have my list atm, but through an X-wing build not long ago using a Pelta and Wedge as an officer in the build to help move the X-wings

You are correct, BCC has been ruled to not stack. It is just my personal preference if flying X-wing spam for several reasons (backup BCC when one gets blown up, extended bombing threat radius, redundant mini carrier).

I like the thought of using pelta, one aspect I liked about the X-ball was how mobile it seemed to be. Speed 4 X-wings via affm sounds like a swell idea.

Makes sence for a back BCC. Wedge officer gives cloak at the end of turn. I personally haven't really used him much yet. I figured he can help move the squadrons. The Pelta having a fleet command slot would allow you to use AFFM more too.
