Randomly just wanted to say that I think Torrents & V-Wings are really neat and I am looking forward to running ETA2(s) + Clone Squads with mixes of Torrents and V-Wings. I think(hope) there are going to be some interesting 5-6+ ship Republic lists made available once the V-Wing and ETAs get released in particular.

Torrents - These feel unique as relatively durable lumbering lil generics. Mini B-Wings with less bite. I almost always have more fun running Republic lists when I have at least 2-3 of these generics mixed in. They are excellent blockers, offer support with dedicated, and can become legit offensive threats as they drift into range one. They work real hard to get their Jedi friends to the end game. Torrents are cool and the ship model is incredible. For some this might file under "just a ship" but for me the Torrent is foundational to the type of Jedi + Clone Squads and archetypes I play currently and want to see from the Republic faction in general. Without the Torrent the Republic faction loses alot of its charm.

V-Wings - On paper similar team to Torrents given its apparent simplicity. Probably the New Republic ship that I am most excited about besides the ETA2. The red barrel roll is cool because its still available to facilitate blocks or other things but generally encourages setting your dial as best as possible without even Barrel roll to correct. The Boost into Target Lock is also neat as its more restrictive than Boost + Focus and paired with Besh makes these more offensive in nature ( unless supported by a LAAT or some cards we havent seen yet which boost their defense ). Warthog in particular lets these opt entirely in to their Offensive profile Boost + Lock + Besh, get rerolls from the LAAT and shoot before being removed with no tokens to modify defense. Not being able to Boost into a Focus again encourages setting that dial correctly from the start when not in yolo boost lock mode. I like that the V-Wing is basically a reckless Tie FO or Tie v1 Baron. That boost is a pretty big deal. Hoping for 26-28 pts for the generic i2. And....the ship model is ridiculously cool looking.

Anyone else excited to build Republic lists without Athersprites and run a bunch of Torrents & V-Wings next to 1-2 ETAs or a LAAT?

I was always a Republic and FO player.

Screw the ETA-2s, I want me a full Clone List. LAAT centerpiece, with Torrents and V-Wings on the wings. I'm very excited for the options that the Republic is getting.

I'm hoping that we can get some good milage out of a mized clone formation of Torrents/V-wings/ARCs supported by a LAAT/i. The LAAT ship ability should really help the Torrents/V-wings to deliver consistent damage.

Also it'll look cool.

Count me among those looking forward to all-clone mixed squads.

I'm curious about how the different configs for the V-Wing will work out. It's got a nifty set of actions, the V-Wing, but seemingly build around being inefficient for Oddball. Will dude ever catch a break, get a ship which really lets him cut loose?

Torrents are still cool, but some of the bloom has gone off the rose. When they first hit, TIE/fo and Scyks and TIE Aggressors were like 28 points, and Z-95s and TIE fighters were at least 23, and they offered substantially more toughness per point than other filler. Meanwhile, CLT was incredibly expensive back then, and the N-1 wasn't out yet, so there weren't pocket aces for Republic, and we got a lot of sweet Torrent lists. They haven't really changed, but a lot of what made them special has been shared with a great many other ships.

Dedicated Blues are pretty interesting. The defensive benefit they might be able to confer to a list, while being pesky filler, seems pretty cool.

Now that they're only 2 points over a Goldie opposed to the utterly ridiculous 4-6 points over on launch, it almost feels like "Why wouldn't you?" since there's usually a limited ship centerpiece to this sort of list, they're just as durable, and i3 puts you above a lot of other cheap swarmy options and on par with hive guard nantex should they become much more prevalent.

They're actually only 1 point over now! And almost all the named ones dropped 3 points. What a wild world we lived in when V19 Oddball was 38 points.

Oh, I meant with Dedicated included it's 2, but 1 point for 1 init is a solid deal if you've got a few points floating around. Can't believe that Oddball was 38 points though.

Im in the v-wing fanclub. Looks like the awing for the republic. With two i5 pilots, can probably get four i5 ships in a list with the two vwings and a mix of jedi and ric to be similar to the resistance 5s with Nein, Ello, Lulo, Talli.
