LAATs how many should be gotten

three or four, for a squadron of LAATs is wise?

One .

My heart?

Three for sure...there's always that one game of epic you plan to schedule sometime in the next 10 years that you'll be happy to be flexing your gunships for.

....

My rule: don't ever buy max of a ship, because when ffg releases a sweet alt-paint of that model, you've still got room in 100/6 for it.

One seems like plenty IMO. That's what I'm going with anyway. There could be a case for two depending on points, but anything more than that seems like overkill. Except in an epic game. In that scenario three or four might actually serve a purpose, but even then I'd probably stop at three.

Then of course there's this which I also agree with

Yeah I’m going one. I usually don’t buy multiples unless I fall in love with a chassis; they’ve gotta earn it.

Actually that’s not true—I’ll sometimes buy multiples if I’m having trouble figuring a chassis out and want to multiply my effective time on table with them. I’m trying to do that less nowadays, though. TTS is there if I really feel the need to get more reps in. Maintaining a sensibly-sized collection is a virtue unto itself.

(Saying this as someone who eventually gave in and bought all the factions, tho...)

I hear ya....

I said on air that I was sticking to one... Now I have three.

Really, it's one primary, one backup (Scum), where I know I can always throw down a fun list if I'm not sold/solved on my primary for a tournament, and one last faction (Rebels) for my newbie friends to play with/against for kicks and theme.

...but I've still got a secret 1.0 stash of TIEs that are whispering lies and propaganda to my ears at night that I made the wrong choice in factions... (I might need to do something about this ... Maybe get counseling... Therapy. Yeah, tabletop therapy. That's it.)

"Hi, I'm Kyle" (hi, Kyle) " and I'm a recovering delusional star pilot..."

To serve as your resident Sith Lord whispering in your ear: If you have a lot of 1.0 TIEs, a conversion kit is not even an expense, its an investment... from a certain point of view...

After all, don't you want your newbie friends to be able to have a classic Rebel Vs Imperial fight...?

Your faith in your friends is misguided.

Although several Laats look probably gorgeous (as 4 Arc170s do), I also think one is the correct answer.

Esp the one called Warthog, surrounded by a bunch of clones who just do not want to die.

I find this to be a most serious crisis.

Even if I stick to buying just one, I'll end up buying a laati.

I'm still totally weirded out by it being a heavy support-ish ship. I figured they're going to get the ETA Class shuttle and that would be their bigger support focused shuttle craft. It's like they thought the Republic wouldn't have a Clone support so and decided to hammer one out of this instead of just letting that be a quirk of the faction. It's just so... Weird.

Maybe the play of it and the price are going to be way different than we think. But that's mostly wishful thinking.

Thirty dollar laatis... no wonder young folks can't afford to buy houses.

Plus stagnant wages due to unchecked corporate greed, upward redistribution of wealth in the tax code, and ever-increasing college and healthcare costs.

That cartoon got the meaning of kick *** beyond what anyone else could do. And they mostly did most of the show without speech. Incredible.

That repainted LAAT made me swear a vow to the Republic.

When do we get these again?

And then when for ETA2s?

This week should be the last preview article for the Xi Class, so then like next week? At least that's what memory serves for time tables. It's usually the week after the last reveal, right?

HMP next.

Xi was already previewed: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2020/8/26/out-of-the-ashes/

Ah of course, was remembering backwards lol. Only question I have is are they still going to release as two half waves of is it all coming out at once now with the other stuff?

I thought LAATs were something like the 25th or 26th.

It's split into 3 parts.

LAAT, Xi and HMP are planned to be out sometime this month (Sept).

TIE/Rb and Heralds of Hope squad pack in Oct.

ETA-2 Actis, Tri-fighter, Sep Firespray and Nimbus out in Nov.

YouTube link to the recording (I don't have the timestamps):

Thanks @Hiemfire , it's amazing how out of the news I've been without regular game nights to keep it fresh in the front of the mind 😑

Both of the previews have said release is September 25th.

For the XI, HMP, and LAAT

What did you think it was going to do??

Thank you. It's literally a troop transport with dual function as a gunship, primarily for air to ground support. I'm 100% ok with how they've designed the LAAT.

@Darth Meanie support in the sense of it's ship ability. Not support as in it's battlefield role as a transport like a Bradley is to a platoon, but as in support abilities to other game pieces like passive buffs that feel more like pilot or elite skills than ship traits. Minor difference perhaps to a cursory glance, but key to me. Frankly to answer your question anyway, I expected more gun and assault from the LoAlt Assault Transport and 'Gunship' that it's supposed to be. Things like bonus attacks from seperate arcs, extra turret slots and shots, and whatnot of that manner. I figured it was always going to be a crew carrier obviously.

Also our beloved X-wing still doesn't have a ground battle sub-system yet. So transports always feel a bit odd regardless. Not that I don't want the ships, just want a game mode where they feel more needed. This and the U-wing were two of my favorites in SW after all. Hope it gets added as an Epic expansion one day.

To me this ship is the Star Wars version of the Mi-24 assault helicopter. I was going to post a pic but I’m on my tablet and my attachment quota is full.

Sounds about right.
