I just picked up x-wing by buying a v1 collection. I am in the process of updating everything to v2. Is there any need to save any of the v1 ship cardboard? Or v1 ship cards? Thanks!

Keep asteroids, bombs, and range rulers.
Also keep shield and evade/focus tokens if you are using a conversion kit, since they barely came with any. (You'll need to paint the back of the shield tokens red with a marker)
Finally, this is just personal taste, but I find the new lock tokens bad design. They got rid of the blue token, replacing it with the ship number. But that makes you have to put a ship number on each ship, even if they are all different ship types. So you end up having to use more cardboard than before. And you absolutely need to keep paired number/lock cardboard. If you lose either, you can't use the other anymore.
