A case for the Tie Lancet

I really like the ugly look of the Tie Lancet and with 2.0 Bulls eye arc, this ship has a great opportunity to be the "kimogila"of the Empire faction. To the front it only has a bulls eye arc restricted beam weapon. It will have a gunner slot and maybe you can buy a cannon for it? But its main arc is actually its two rear facing turrets. So this ship you fly backwards in a way, Your primary arc points backwards. You want to hit things in front of you with your very narrow but strong beam, but you can turn away and shoot at pursuers.

Furthermore it looks perfect together with the other more ground based Tie fighters, the Tie Striker and Tie Reaper. It will also fit well with the Empires medium based specialist fighters like the Punisher and Tie Heavy.

Sooo this was a way to bring this ship to the devs attention, but I hope you agree.

So you would restrict the turret-arc to only point backwards? the present mobile-turret mechanics does not really lend it self to 180 only, but rather one of the four sides, so not front arc then? Alternatively you could just give it a 180 primary firing arc to the rear, like a reverse flying Wookie gun-ship.

Sciencius, yes turret is misleading here as the ship has turrets in lore, but in game I would just give it rear facing arcs, a full 180 rear arc would probably be a play testing deal, but would fit well with "semi" turrets.

Hrm... something like a 4 Bullseye / 2 Rear / 2 Agility / 7 Hull. Dial perhaps somewhat like a TIE Bomber? Nothing too fancy in actions... red boost? If it had a rear full-arc, I might give it a ship ability like "you may treat your rear full arc as a standard rear arc for the purposed of abilities" just so that Tail Gunner would work with it.

But when I put it like that, it doesn't feel all that different from a TIE Heavy. Grab an HLC and point the turret backwards and you'd pretty much have it. If I had a Lancet model and wanted to do some sort of a balanced homebrew, that'd be where I'd start...

I agree, I think where it can really shine and become its own ship is with a special rule like Dead to rights for Kimogilas, might even give it adaptive ailerons like the striker and Reaper.

Oi, that thing looks like a Space Vacuum with Dual Dustbins.

Yes. It's ungainly, ugly and obscure even for Legends. 0% of chance to feature in the game.

The crazy fire arcs are cool, though.

No chance at all? I agree its a long shot, but its fits in with the other atmospheric canon ties in look and down the line they need ships for the Empire.

Nope.

The era of the strange Legends ships is over. Unless a ship is re-canonized by a film or TV show, it has no chance against the "invasion" of Sequel and Prequel shiny new toys.

I doubt it would ever even get a 3D print file for DIYers. . .

You are probably right, although it seems that change is comming and the Mouse is actually starting to listen to fans, so maybe nostalgi dollars would convince them ;). Or the game designers see some potential and can convince them ;).

I will probably do one after I have finished my Star Scavenger, CR-20 shuttle and tie vigilance.

I would really love to see the EU New Republic and Imperial Remnant factions come to the game. Sooner or later, the 4 growth factions (Seps, Republic, FO, Resist} are going to reach capacity. . . .

Disney will be pushing a lot of new content in the following years. The Mandalorian, Cassian Andor and who knows what other new series will certainly come with new ships (new toys!) for the Empire, the Rebels and Scum. Not to mention the comics and video game.

Resistance and First Order have (finally) lots of unreleased stuff in the Ep. IX.

There are at least 3 new iconic ships coming for Republic and 3 for the Seps . When these more obvious choices are done, FFG can dig into The Clone Wars obscure designs. Heck, this Project Luminous , if really fully developed by Disney, can bring new ships for the Republic or even whole 2 new factions (High Republic and Sith).

I don't want to crush your dreams, but forget the EU New Republic and Imperial Remnant. They are completely dead.

I play Epic. My whole XWM experience is built on the idea of "when **** freezes over, I'll finally have. . . "

I mean, you are right, of course. Still, if I had to design an XWM "taxonomy" where stuff like Slave II, the Lancet, TIE Droids, A-9s, and the like could show up, even making NR and IR subfactions of the Rebels and Empire would be what I'd do.

If enough folks ask for it, it could happen.

And the occasional odd-ball EU ship could generate some excitement in the original 3 factions for players who feel like Nothing Is Happening.

And I dare say Project Luminous is going to require new factions to have the current taxonomy remain sensible. Which I think is brilliant. . .the more "teams" you can choose from in XWM, the better.

You know, this is actually very cool.

Should have at least 2 more health, tough. And reinforce without shields? - does this make any sense?

LOL.

Yeah, that was dumb.

As for hull, the Lambda, Punisher and Bomber all have 6. Don't get shot? 😁

TIE Oppressor, TIE Hunter, TIE Avenger first.

And the TIE Heavy has 8. The Lancet is a big boy, it deserves to soak more damage.

I was about to say "Isn't that already a Title card for the Bomber?" But then I remembered that most of the Title cards don't exist in 2.0 anymore...
