Any information on *sizes* of the new models?

By xanderf, in Star Wars: Armada

From a review of the Wiki, it seems these are going to be quite a bit smaller than comparable units in the CGW era.

  • Acclamator. By stats, it feels vaguely VSD-like, but it's quite a bit smaller than the VSD at 752m vs the VSD's 900m. Indeed, halfway to a GSD's 600m. So between a VSD and GSD in size? Maybe almost exactly the size of a Quasar Fire? EDIT: Or maybe the Assault Frigate Mk2 - at 700m, that's basically exactly the right size. And it's chonky like the Acclamator, too, so that'll be my guess for the moment?
  • Venator. 1137m - puts it closer to a VSD in length vs the ISD's massive 1600m. (Of course, the Liberty-class is spot-on 1200m, so I guess about that big?) ...course, we know nothing about this beyond the wave 2 teaser, so who knows...
  • Munificent. 825m - bigger than an Acclamator, but still smaller than a VSD.
  • The Providence and Recusant both have two versions that appeared - smaller versions in the 1000m/1100m range, and larger versions in the 2200m/2500m range. Wonder which FFG will go with, and the resulting models...

My guess is the movie versions (1,000 meters). The dreadnought versions from the Clone Wars cartoon always struck me as so odd. A bigger crime than the Xyston ! ;)

It does make everything...quite small, really. Nothing bigger than a Liberty, until the Lucrehulks come out - which aren't even teased, yet, but feel a safe assumption.

This might be naively optimistic on my part, but I'm hoping they arrive as early as Wave II (the Venator and Invisible Hand being "Wave I" in my mind). They may just be the iconic ship of the prequels, thanks to their prominence in Phantom Menace .

Eh, I'll hope for wave III - with the standalone releases of the core set ships.

Either way, the Republic is quickly running out of ships. They've already announced the Consular cruiser, Acclamator , Venator , and Pelta . That leaves the Arquitens and Stealth Corvette. What happens after Wave III? I don't think we'll see Republic VSDs.

VSDs in Republic colors WOULD be pretty cool. Still, they've got beyond those:

  • CR-70 corvette (as seen in Episode III)
  • J-type 327 Nubian royal starship (possible flotilla - it's a bit larger than a Gozanti)
  • J-type diplomatic barge
  • Dreadnought-type cruiser (which has appeared canonically in 'Rebels' as the Imperial Support Vessel)

Aside from a Republic VSD i dont really see any Republic ship (Canon or Legends) after the Arquitens and Stealth Corvette. Which is fine with me but i guess not for FFG, so im sure they'll come up with something. The blue CR90 from EP3 maybe? Although it would be pretty pointless given its (assumed) similarities to the Consular...

The Nubians are pretty epic. In our custom Clone Wars Set we decided to make them squadrons, which - given their lack of armament and military equipment - makes more sense IMO. I know the Dreadnoughts appeared in the (now Legends) Republic Comics but meh they are not really needed for the GAR. The Corellian Star Shuttle from EP1 would be a Canon Option for the Republic, althought its another unarmed ship. It looks pretty cool though and im sure they could do something with it. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/CSS-1_Corellian_Star_Shuttle

Eh, no more 'lack of armament and equipment' than the GR-75s. And of course we have those in the game.

I agree, I think the Lucrehulk will be release in the Wave after the Venator/Pelta/Providence/Recusant Wave -- I don't know if that one is Wave 1 or 2 either.

I think we'll see the Lucrehulk that soon because it's probably the most iconic Prequel Trilogy warship and it will have tremendous appeal. I can imagine the Lucrehulk being the reason that really drives more people to get into Armada, because there are casual Star Wars fans who don't remember the Acclamator, Munificent, and Hardcells, but they definitely will remember the Lucrehulk -- even if they only know it as the "Droid Control Ship" or the "Trade Federation ship".

Therefore, I think FFG would be smart to release the Lucrehulk ASAP.

Amusingly - while the SIZE of the thing surely precludes it - of all the Clone Wars-era ships, this is one of the few that would be reasonable for a repaint release for that reason.

During the Clone Wars, it had some fairly major refits to it, and was painted in the livery of the CIS:

...while during the Naboo Crisis, it was in plain, grey, Trade Federation colors and of a somewhat simpler design:

Just a shame that it's so stupidly big that two releases of it is improbable!

(Although technically the 'plain grey' version without the ring of turbolaser turrets was also used by the Rebellion during the Galactic Civil War, so...that could be a good argument for a second release. First one for the CIS, only - in CIS blue, and in the 'battleship' configuration. Second release - surely MUCH later - in the Trade Federation Grey with base plates to fly it as either the Trade Federation carrier/droid control ship or a carrier for the Rebellion?)
