This seems broken, am i understanding this wrong?

Heey there,

So i did a interdictor vs a MC80 Battle Cruiser and i struggeled a bit about a few things.

i rolled with my battle cruiser a blue crit, therefore it can use its MS-1 ion cannons on the interdictors g8 experimental projector. The G8 is exhausted now and cant be used but the interdictor has the special interdictor card.

the interdictor card states: when a ship activates (so any ship friend or foe) you may exhaust this card to ready 1 other upgrade card equipped to this ship. So this means that when its the turn of the interdictor ship it can use the interdictor card to ready the exhausted g8 card. This seems really odd cause now the whole point of using the ion cannons to prevent the G8 is impossible. Therefore the interdictor can always slow you down!!!

Am i understanding this wrong? cause this seems now broken! someone with the interdictor can always slow you down now, and the defender cant do anything about it even with the ion cannons. which means the interdictor will always win (slows you donw to zero)

Would be great if someone can help me with this

The timing on G8s is whilst the enemy ship is moving. Hence if the enemy ship used MS Ion Cannons on the G8s then the interdictor cannot use G8s against that ship.

Please use the rules sub forum in future.

i understand that Ginkapo but the MC80 Battle Cruiser used the ion cannon. so interdictor g8 cant use it in this round but the interdictor card states when a ship activates it can ready a exhausted card.

ahh i see already what i am doing wrong. it states when a ship activates but no other ship has been activated so the g8 is still exhausted. the g8 can be readied when its the turn of the interdictor. the interdictor can then use it on a another ship.

correct.

Another question. if you slow a ship down to speed zero with the G8. Does this mean he cant use his defense tokens because of speed zero? (even though it s temporarily speed reduction )

The dial is not changed.

i can still use the defense tokens?

Yes, as the change is temporary you never change the dial, so even if that ships has speed 0 for that maneuver, it's real speed will be 1, so it can spend defense tokens.

A buddy and I made this same mistake once. It ruined the whole game, to the point where we had a re-match to settle it (it so happened to be during our Corellian Conflict campaign, so it was particularly important that we get it right). It was literally in the middle of Round 6 (!!), and it dawned on me, "Wait, the speed drop is temporary. It doesn't actually change the speed on your dial. Oh shiiiiiiii..."

To add on, note that the Starhawk superweapon is (currently) the only thing that can force a ship to a speed 0 state where it can't use it's defense tokens during the game, though it has to be at speed 0 itself.

Edit, plus gravity rift:
When a ship overlaps a gravity rift, its speed dial must be reduced to 0.

Or g7

I thought G7s only did a temporary slowdown and didn't affect defence tokens???

I was making mention of that which happens during the gameplay, but I get your point. :)

G7- grav well causes any ship that deploys at distance 1-3 of the grav well token to drop to speed 0

On that note, deploying at distance 1-2 of gravity rift also drops a ship speed to 0

That's the g8.

G7 drop the speed of whatever is deployed at certain distance directly to 0. If you get shoot on that before it speed up my kudos. It affects Raddus, Profundity and Hyperspace objective too so potentially you could.
