MothmAmity, or 'my jank excuse to use TRCs on a Starhawk'

By Flyinpenguin117, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I was idly drafting fleets (in the hopes that someday I actually get to play again...) and had a stupid idea: What if I used the Amity title to use TRCs on a Starhawk?

Starhawk Battleship Mk1 (150)

  • Mon Mothma (30)
  • Kyrsta Agate (5)
  • Walex Blissex (5)
  • Fire-Control Team (2)
  • High-Capacity Ion Turbines (8)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Amity (6)

Total: 203

CR90 Corvette A (44)

  • Engine Techs (8)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Jaina's Light (2)

Total: 61

CR90 Corvette A (44)

  • Leia Organa (3)
  • Tantive IV (3)

Total: 50

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)

  • Toryn Farr (7)
  • Repair Crew(4)
  • Bright Hope (2)

Total: 31

Ship total: 345

2x E-Wing Squadron (30)

2x A-Wing Squadron (22)

Squadron total: 52

Fleet total: 397

Objectives undecided because I'm terrible at picking them.

So the obvious thought process here is that Amity grants an Evade token. That token is mainly used to fuel TRCs. Officer Agate allows me to refresh that token if one of the 11 red/blue dice comes up a natural crit, so it can still be used as intended (and Fire Control Team lets me still resolve the standard critical effect). I could also use it to flip a die to crit so the Evade refreshes itself, or use TRC on a Salvo so it refreshes that instead, but both seem kinda unnecessary outside super-fringe scenarios. Walex lets me recover a defense token if I have to use it more than 2-3 times in a turn, giving even more flexibility to Salvo and Evade.

Mon Mothma lets Evade reroll at close range, so Amity can close in to set up rams and still make use of Evade. The Starhawk-fleet-standard Leia/Comms Net Flotilla is upgraded to Tantive IV, which hides near the Starhawk to fix dials, pass tokens, and contribute some extra dice (I'd make room for it to also pack TRCs but I only have 2 copies). This frees up the GR75 to take Toryn (to fish for those token-refreshing crits) and Repair Crews (to quickly ditch the extra damage cards Amity has to take). And as always, Jaina's Light skirts around the edges and flings double-hit red dice from behind an asteroid field.

Fighter coverage is pretty light, but I felt this is the best I could try and do for ~50 points. A-Wings dash in and tie up enemy squadrons to bait counter attacks while E-Wings hang back a bit and snipe. Figured its either that or 4 X-Wings, but I'm bad at picking out light fighter coverage. Obviously it won't stand up to a heavy squadron group, but hopefully the Starhawk can take out their carriers/support before it can get bombed too heavily.

I don't think you need Fire Control Team allow you to activate two crits, do you? TRCs aren't activating a crit, they're just turning a die.

I mulled over a Mothma Amity too, but it's a bit of a squeeze to get a second combat ship in to your remaining points and get a fighter wing.

It could work, but is it going to give you a better result than Quad Battery Turrets/Gunnery Team/Leading Shots? Tricky.

Fire Control Team is for Agate. Her ability is a crit effect, so with FCT I wouldnt have to choose between refreshing a token and dealing a face-up card.

And probably not, but this isn't really meant to be a super competitive list. I have notoriously awful luck with dice, even with rerolls, so I'm fine investing a ton into dealing guaranteed 1-2 more damage.

I tried it. Mothma didn't really do anything for me. Amity's a good title, but Commander Agate's way stronger imo than Mothma, even with this title, and Walex Blissex plays into her ability. Leading Shots to fix dice on the mix bag of the front hull with LTTs to help salvo the enemy.

[flagship] Starhawk-Class Battleship Mark I (140)

- Kyrsta Agate (20)

- Amity (6)

- Leading Shots (4)

- Hardened Bulkheads (5)

- Strategic Adviser (4)

- Walex Blissex (5)

- Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)

- Local Fire Control (4)

= 195 points

I kinda figured, but it was fun to come up with. My other stupid idea was Agate, Concord, and Local Fire Control to stack 4 Salvos on a Starhawk. Obviously more than it could possibly need (if its taking 4-8 hits per turn its gonna die anyways), but its the ultimate way of saying 'come get me'

Garm can work on the Starhawk too, then throw Officer Agate in with LTTs for Salvoing back your defense tokens. I like the Starhawk. It cant take a **** of a beating. Mothma I think is only as good as the total number of evade tokens in your fleet.

That'll help if you're going against a swarm fleet. Make those CR90's/Arquitens take as many dice as they're throwing at you. Wouldn't QBT's let you throw a fourth every time?

Salvo attacks are printed rear dice only, sadly. And no extra crits. I was bodging together an idea for an Interdictor with a mock-salvo token (using one of the new Clone Wars cards) and Heavy Ion Emplacements so you could use HIE on your salvo, activate, use Interdictor to re-enable HIE and then use it again on your attack. Would've been hilarious, but sadly no.

I thought maybe because it was add a die.

Pretty sure that you can't add a die, but you can alter them, through rerolls such as Linked Turbolaser Towers or Gunnery Chief Varnillian.
