Should Twin Ion Engine Mark II make a reappearance?

I mean, I agree, and LWF shouldn't be in 2e.

I think you would need to tweak it to the point its basically 'an ability' rather than 'you get more green dice.' Something with a very specific trigger that creates interaction, rather than 'Oh hey if your up against a certain list here is an extra greenie.' And it shouldn't be something you generally want to do anyway (Looking at you, Boba). Something like 'when at range 3' for example, because (other than Longshot) you probably don't want to be at 3 as any TIE besides on Bombers and Punishers.

"Active, fight for it" abilities are safer places to put scary changes to the base stat line than on 'compare the number' effects. They also trend towards more interesting because they help lists differentiate themselves from other lists of similar archetypes.

The thing about LWF and Twin Ion Engine MKII. They were cards introduced late into the games life where there were problems that came about from earlier design mistakes and the intent was to fix those mistakes.

While I am loathed to instantly say "No, time out on these two and Twin Laser Turret until the end of time." I am also equally concerned about welcoming it back with open arms.

The thing about The Limiter Override upgrade is that it takes up an unusual slot for what it supposedly does combined with the restriction of TIE only and Hairy Nick made a very interesting point about the Limiter Override; It's not really an upgrade in the traditional sense, it is more of a 'side-grade' in that you can do this, but there is a risk to it which outweights it's potential to be abused. It also encourages a different way to fly your TIE Fighters.

I often avoid red maneuvers with TIE's like the plague because it shuts down any actions, to the point I will come back and re-engage. Clearly FFG saw a reason to make this TIE only. I'd love to know the reasoning behind that. Maybe it was found that on anything else it wasn't really useful or was too egregious but for some reason it just works for TIEs. Of all ships in X-Wing TIE fighters also consistently have access to the barrel roll as an action. Doing a check the only TIE Fighter that would consider this a legit upgrade is the reaper because it can't barrel roll, but even then it grants it in a very situational circumstance its not like you can do any old maneuver and barrel roll you have to do reds.

Talking hypothetically, if a similar card was to come along for Lightweight frame it should allow you to roll dice based on the hit and crit results. Do they have 1 extra result than you have green dice? It's your lucky day. The tradeoff i feel should be. What's that, they only got one hit? Well I guess your rolling only 1 dice this round then despite the fact you are a TIE Interceptor, I hope you have evade or a focus and lady luck is smiling upon you today. It turns it from a "Yes, I will have it on anything I can afford it on..." to a "ooooh...is this the best card for this particular build?"

Maybe my that is too harsh, testing would be required. The issue is adding dice, results and so on is powerful and it can lead to a knock on effect. If we start going back to the days where a ship can barely be scratched by a 3 or 4 dice attack we're then going to start going down the garden path to other NPE like TLT and I am pretty sure none of us want that.

Without exhaustively reading these three pages, my answer to the OP is, "Yes."

I wouldn't mind more options for TIEs in the spirit of theme.

Mods are fine until they aren't.

Personally, I feel like too many ships currently have access to mod slot.

Keep it on theme, and I'm happy.

I would say no. Tie mk 2 was baked into a lot of dials in 2E, if it doesn’t have it, it’s for a specific balance reason. Even though I loved it on my defenders, it should stay gone.

LWF doesn’t need to come back either.

What I would love to see is an empire faction talent that rewards ties for good formation flying. (Although it needs to be reasonably balanced or scale hard with aces, Imperial aces really don’t need any help atm)
