Almost ninja almost triangles

By sasska, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have this fleet in mind, I've always found Madine's ability interesting and exciting, and I like the Mc80 winged versions, though i haven't play them much because it doesn't really fit my play style somehow... So would this work? I tried it once or twice, i had some success with it, but nothing extraordinary. What archetypes this list could be a counter of? What archetypes counters the list? I suspect this could be good against Onager based fleets, but what else? Also im not sure on the objectives plus the VCX.

Any comments appreciated

Is there a reason that you use 2 different types of LMC80? I'm not sure about that Capture the VIP, maybe Planetary Ion Cannon?

Actually I forget to change the second to Battle Cruiser as well. Yea, Ion Cannon looks more appealing.

@sasska I really like the dual LMC80 archetype, it's a really fun build. Note that the LMC80 is a glass cannon, it can't endure damage that most others in its size class can. Plus you want to have spare hull to ET ram your opponents to pile on the damage at times. It's lack of staying power also means it can't go alone against other larges so you need to commit both if you are taking down something your size. This basically means your list cannot and should try not to take damage. Activation is not really a problem until the GR75s start to pop, but you may want to consider Bail Organa to clinche that key turn or give tokens. Deployment is abit more difficult without squads and 4 ships, as you have 2 ships that want to be in good position. I personally tried to squeeze in one more. The makeup of the LMC80 chassis makes it hard to get off more than 1-2 good shots and in position, so timing is important. You might want to consider LTTs instead of spinals, increasing the consistency of long shots for cheaper and adding flak power to your almost squadless fleet. If you're using Madine you might want comms net to always have a nav token available, but depending on your playstyle you might prefer this or that.

Since this list can't take damage, it's vulnerable to everything. The LMC80 is a battlecruiser, a small ship killer, so you could snipe the opponent's smalls and run from the larges. Lists that hide alot of points in tough ships are hard for this list, since you need to commit fully to kill the tough ship to win and/or win big. Carrier fleets are just as dangerous as the squads can quickly nibble the few defense tokens. Note that if the carrier is pushing squads then it's not navigating, unless Thrawn.

Here are some other objectives you could consider: Surprise attack is strong, Planetary Ion Cannon is good to punish enemies, Fleet in Being gives your LMC80s abit more defense, Solar Corona because deployment, and Navigational Hazards because you're Madine.

Have fun! This build has pretty neat variations, I'm currently looking at WBT-HIE-Star Cruisers

Yeah, I am always surprised how little fire a LMC80 can endure. Love the idea of weapons battery tech and HIE. Maybe I swap one of the battle cruisers for that one. And if I degrade one of them to a star cruiser, I may have the points for a HH, or Tycho, Shara.
