"End Movement" and non-action abilities

By udat, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

A question came up in our game last night - what abilities can a Rebel Hero use when moving through another figure - can they do more than spend movement points to move to another space/escape (some missions)?

The Rules and FAQ are pretty clear that you have to "end movement" to perform any action or an attack, which rules out most abilities, but e.g. Force Throw and Shot on the Run are not actions, so would they work?

Last night, Vinto wanted to Shot on the Run a stormtrooper that was otherwise going to be in his way, but he could only get line of sight to it from a square occupied by a Rebel figure. Would it be legal to use his ability while in the same square as the other Rebel? (he was wounded, so no thread the needle)

Yes, you could perform other abilities without ending movement while sharing a space with another figure, as long as you still have movement points to end movement legally afterwards - i.e. you need to have movement points to end movement legally to enter the space with another figure in the first place, and you can't spend movement points for other abilities so that you would run out of movement points voluntarily.

Note that this requires that you're spending movement points from the pool, not from special actions. (So that you are in "during your activation" and not in the process of resolving an ability.)

Thanks :)

In the LotA app

if a stormtrooper has the instruction: move 3 to attack Diala.

if she is blocked by other rebels, AND if the trooper is close enough,

can he move 2 points into the blocking enemy rebel, gain access to Diala, fire, then use the 3rd movement point to move back into a legal space? All in that 1 instruction?

Or will he simply shoot the rebel blocking her( you know, since he’s the closest rebel)

Please help.

No, you can't stop and take another action while sharing a space with another figure. So they will shoot the blocking rebel instead.

Also - The app doesn't use movement point pool, and all abilities from instruction lines are performed fully and in order before performing the next one.
