X-Wing Stream @ 1500 CST (Link to recordings added)

By Hiemfire, in X-Wing

That underslung blaster makes me think they are future proofing cards in expectation of the T-85 being released. Given the X-Wing and Resistance limitations instead of a T-70 X-Wing limitation.

Very disappointed no Razor Crest.

As a Scum player, I hear you, bur most of the stuff in this announcement was likely in development before The Mandalorian hit the screen.

I mean, the Republic/CIS ships will have been worked on alongside the rest of the new factions, the Resistance ships are repaints of existing models and as for the TIE Brute, Solo came out two years ago.

The Razor Crest will arrive... just not today.

Also worth noting as it wasn't spoiled on-stream: A Light-side counterpart to Hate!

I also want to say: I really like this design. I'm glad the heroes get a way to gain back force for more uses of special abilities. Hopefully this will be wicked cheap, since the cost in game is pretty high.

I think 3ish points is about right. You’ll typically do this on a long shot that’s likely to whiff anyway, or if you stuck yourself in a bad spot and don’t want to die yet

I'd been thinking three sounds high. I mean, you're deleting an attack die, and only on a turn when you have a shot. Eh, we'll see.

Well it seems the rebels lose in this one. No new ships, no re-released ships, maybe 1 new card the A-Wings can use. After the republic drives up the cost of regen they receive a regen bot that does more than the rebel versions combined. Granted a lot of other new interesting things, but I already limited myself to 2 or 3 factions, so my pocket book will take less of a hit.

Given that Rebels will most likely getting a Squadron pack, I am not concerned.

Hondo on Chavdri seems really good. Since Hondo isn't actually a Coordinate action, you'd be able to Hondo, use Chavdri's ability to perform a red Coordinate action, and possibly perform another red action if you don't mind being double stressed.

They said in the stream that there will probably be a card in there that relates to S-Foils for Rebels.

Also @Darth Meanie , it's worth mentioning they said on the stream that 'Epic Play will be supported in normal expansions' and they mention newer releases do have some upgrades which will impact epic. They specifically called out the Hyperspace Ring as an 'Epic and Casual Play only' thing that has its own 'Hyperdrive' upgrade that allows them to explore that design space.

Gold Squadron Podcast’s sleuths believe that the eta2 comes with a new type of wing leader card.

On the stream, Max did specifically say a new pack do come with a new wing leader card. So it's fair assumption the GSP slueths are correct...incidentally where can I see these theories? GSP Discord? Facebook? :D

Yeah, all this stuff has me stoked.

I love the new interaction of ship-to-ship of the Starbird Slash, and great to hear that finally some things are just for fun.

Even better to hear that Epic can at least be an all-the-time slow trickle.

Now, I'll just start holding my breath for the B-wing super laser. 🤩

Honestly, with the Composite Beam Laser being a thing in the Star Wars Squadrons Video Game for the TIE Bomber and Y-Wing. I wouldn't be surprised if FFG explore it. They might keep it just for the B-Wing and maybe only have it Epic only. Who knows! We know the Phoenix Squadron pack is coming and I feel it's a fairly safe assumption it will be a combination of A-Wing, B-Wing and/or Attack Shuttle.

Republic R2-D2 is insane. Seriously, how is he getting to remove any device at range 1? I get wanting to give him the ability to remove Buzz Droids like in RotS, but make that ability range 0, surely.

How is he only giving a Deplete token for all this too?

Because you're only at range 0 of an object other than a ship if you're sitting right on top of it...

Speaking of that Squadron pack. Although so far the theme has been three ships but only two chassis (so two copies of one ship) I honestly wouldn't mind them doing A-Wing, B-Wing and Attack Shuttle to ensure they cover the full spread of Rebels content.

As noted in the Team Covenant interview, Mando stuff for all the games will be next year.

It was on their podcast recorded after inflight but before the stream. This makes me happy, as I’ve been wanting to lead wings of ships in a republic fleet for epic

I do also want to say. Kudos on the chat for noticing that the new Overdrive Thruster does not work with SLAM at all.

Overdrive Thruster: While you perform a red [Boost], [Barrel Roll], or [SLAM] action, you MUST use a template of 1 speed higher, if able.

Black One grants you a white slam action. You could do that as Red, but it means you've done an action that round and therefore can't SLAM as SLAM says you can only perform the SLAM action that round.

It's not a major problem since it still works with boost and barrel roll...but still. FFG are human and clearly they missed it. Now they either have to work around it or errata the card.

Edit: Given that so far there's no card that allows you to SLAM and do something else bar Poe, they might remove the restriction of having it be your only action particularly since you can only SLAM once. Also opens design space for linked SLAM going forward...which actually they have in the new Tri Fighter so maybe they've already considered that just not implemented it in the current rules?

Where did you find these?

Asmodee's online store, they had these cards in the previews for the Tie Brute and Heralds of Hope.

Underslung Blaster: wow that's a terrible card. A 2-die, range-1 attack, with the ordnance icon to prevent a bonus die, that can only attack a ship that enters range 1 in the direction of your turret, but only if you have a lock on it. And the only dice mod you can use is by spending that lock.

You can also have a friendly use Targeting Synchronizer, but then you're throwing more points down to make this card work.

I've always thought that restriction was primarily to prevent a ship from SLAMing before they executed a maneuver that round. Since you have to SLAM with the same speed as the maneuver that you executed, the action doesn't work quite right if you take the action before executing a maneuver. Though I guess they could always update the action to fail if you have not executed a dial or Ion maneuver this round.

Wrong again. Base contact counts as R0 (such as bumped) and that’s exactly how Buzz Droids work...

I see some uses for buffing Vennie, as you're adding more ships ( transport , t70s) to use his ability

not for transports
