I thought when he was a commander is when the "Darth" was dropped? Been awhile since I've watched the episodes that deal with that though.

Yeah, so they had to just call him "Maul" so that the future scum release has the same name. Otherwise they would've had to put something in the RRG to clarify that Maul and Darth Maul are, in fact, the same person.

Why? If they are part of two separate factions it shouldn't ever come up, correct? None of the rules allow for mixed faction armies, even the option team battle rules.

Ah, that I missed.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they had used different names to specifically prevent the command cards being used across factions then, rather than potentially allow them to be used regardless of army.
