Looks like I was wrong and they are actually a Special Forces unit. Who knows if they will be cheap, though.

Even if they are cheap, I am quite certain they will be a detachment, so they won't be able to be taken without Maul. But a cheap activation would help offset his presumably high cost.

I see the argument, but grievous with 4 B1s, gun upgrades and 2 coms is almost 100 points more than Leia and 4 rebs with gun upgrades. If B1s are too efficient shouldn't they be adjusted instead of grievous and dooku costing more? And does that mean grievous isn't a bit better than commander luke? Because I find he is better in most ways on the table and without delving into math.

I think what keeps B1s from becoming OP is the rank cap, so I don't think they need adjusted just yet, (we may see issues once a cheap commander, strike teams, and a cheaper support come along, but we'll see.)All I'm saying is B1s give CIS order control at a fairly low skill cost. They also give a shockingly durable unit as the main corps unit. (I usually end up bringing all 48 minis, it takes a moment to chew through all that.)

See I get the impression now that CIS was never about cheap hoard units offset by expensive commanders. Instead the staring units in the faction just so happened to be two expensive commanders and a really OP corps unit. Throw in massive delays and bad release order to push back the first CIS commander to reinforce this. I don't remember if FFG ever pushed the horde aspect of the faction or if we all just guessed it would be?

Would not be surprised if that Tactical droid breaks the faction. Could easily see future list having Tactical droid, Maul, Bane, 6 B1s, and snipers being OP.................... Of course Legion has problems right now with P2s and ARCs so one issue at a time lol?

Get the feeling this game is just going to do X-wing 1.0 and every new thing will just break the meta and be the new hotness. Hopefully that points change coming will be very aggressive and try to fix some of these issues.

I think when the only options the CIS had were basically just B1s and Droidekas there was a strong argument that you needed expensive commanders to fill out the points. But now that we have more expensive units, like the B2s, the AAT, the STAP and the Commando droids, the faction has a lot more to play with and in order to open up the faction to have variety and build combos they needed a cheap commander.

Maybe not the place for it, but if Nute does come later, as a sort of Rex Tier Commander, you can run a "Trade Federation" list instead of CIS. Paint up all the models with the Trade Federation colours, then run, Nute, B1s, Droidekas, the AAT and Darth Maul.

Only thing we'd need is some sort of Gungan core option for the GAR, and maybe Qui Gon as a Commander to have an EP 1 themed battle.

If we get Nute Gunray before Kalani I will personally fly to FFG's offices and flip a table.

I'll be honest I have no idea which way they will go with that. Super Tactical droid is what I would go with as well, but Nute is more well known, but from a lore standpoint Tambor did a lot of ground action.

They did Cad Bane over Jango, but they also did Maul before Ventress and Padme over Ahsoka so yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. No real rhyme or reason for what or why they release. Why did CIS get 2 expensive commanders and two operatives before the cheap one??????????? The world will never know.

I will agree that doing Maul over Ventress is an odd move, as Maul was never really a CIS operative. (Whereas Cad Bane over Jango makes a lot of sense).

But most Separatist leaders didn't do a lot of commanding: Nute Gunray was never a commander in the clone wars, and Wat Tambor usually stayed in a superficial supervisory role and left the commanding to his tactical droids. Super Tactical droids (and if they have to be a named character, it has to be Kalani) would fill the same role and point cost of an upgraded generic commander like General Veers. And Kalani was in both Clone Wars and Rebels, so he has some "star power" as well.

But I'm not against the Gunray fans getting him in the game, perhaps FFG can release a convention-special model that has Gunray as a hostage token. Tell me that wouldn't be thematic.

Kalani is probably most likely, but Kraken and Aut-O are also possible. Aut-O is definitely the least likely (only being in a very weird arc of Clone Wars episodes), though he is the only Super Tactical Droid shown to use a gun and directly engage in combat.

Oh, good catch. I see it now.

I would have bet on the counterpart also, I just thought there was a chance it'd be a cheap activation. But yeah, we'll see about the cheap part... hopefully Saturday.

My money is on it being called being Super Tactical droid and you can give it a title/name (Kalani, Kraken, etc.) for special abilities and added cost. Or just three different commanders with their own cards in the box all using the same model.

Win win for everyone. FFG sells several copies of the same unit and CIS players get multiple cheap to middle of the road priced leaders.

I will always praise FFG for doing Cad Bane over Jango. I have come around to Maul being an operative, but still think Ventress is the way to go. Especially since I think she is the best option for the commander/operative choice for CIS (Bane being the only one I can really think of being a decent option).

As for cheap commander rating I go: Super Tactical Droid>>>>Trench>>>>>>>>>>>>Nute (jokes would be fun tho)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>CIS council

Wouldn't it be kind of cool if they perhaps release a Super Tactical box that has cards for different named characters that have slightly different quirks? You could do the same for clones commanders: Rex, Bly, Locke, Wolfee, Gree, etc...

I would be very down with that

Holy cow, you just blew my mind hole. I figured the droid one would do that, but damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn never thought they could just repeat the process with Clones (how did I miss that)......................... They have to do it now! Anything less and it is a waste of everyone's' time.
