Hello everybody. I'm going to join local group of Legion players in Moscow, Russia as clone and/or droid player. Because of long time SW:Armada teaching and some other circumstances I'd like to be able to set up any tactically unique non-limit clone or droid list by my own. I know this approach will not be cheap, but this is OK for me. So, how much of each clone wars boxes should I find and buy?
Ask help for start collecting
Starting with 2 x clone wars boxes is considered the best idea. You need a minimum of 1 commander and 3 corps for an army plus this will give you that plus enough models to run 800 pts lists. The box is also incredibly good value giving you extra dice, measurement tools, range rulers and tokens.
Then have a few games, do some research, ask questions here if you have any and work out what would want next.

This. Biggest Problem you will already know from Armada is availability of products. Watch out for the next wave of ARC Troopers /BX-Commandos. To be absolutly independent you will need 3 of them for your choice of faction because of the cheap strike teams for high number of activations (should sound familar to an Armada player)and I doubt that supply in stores will last longer than two weeks. For Republic 3-4 Phase II Clones units should do it (good luck hunting them). Droids B2 are situational, 1-2 will do.
Heavies are up to you. If you like them, get one of each, otherwise skip them.
For Republic get a „crashed escape pod“ for R2D2.
Oh, and get the „upgrade card pack“, „Priority supplies“ and „Vital assets“ for the cards.

Why should I buy second starter instead of droidekas, b1 and phase 1 clone troopers (and dice of course) packs except for saving money? Also, isn't smoke grenades, which are unique to Rex and phase 1 troopers, very usable?
About phase II clone troopers. Lost 3 of them on miniaturesmarket yesterday because of my lazyness)

Mostly I'm not interested in such l ong process of collection construction because of problems with items avaliability. Based on Armada Expirience, I can have troubles with getting all what I want if I lose initial release. Also the later I start searching, the more problems I get.

Well, as you say, it‘s about saving money. Core box is best bang for the buck. If you want only one faction, sell the rest or share with a friend.
Smoke grenades take an action, making them much less usefull than one might think. Get Rex and play with the one grenade you get.

It's far, far cheaper to just buy core sets instead of buying the pieces individually. For the collection you described that you wanted you should definitely buy 3 of them. Smoke Grenades are hardly ever used, and you get them in Rex and the Phase 1 Trooper Upgrade pack anyway.

Am I need so much BARC speeders?

Thank's a lot.
I like smoke grenades but they are not that efficient to use.
Aim on getting at least one core set and an extra set of dice. Priorities Rex, Arc Troopers, Phase 1 clone troopers expansion, R2 and phase 2 clone troopers for Republic and Dooku, Commando droids, B1 trooper expansions and a set of either B1s or B2s. You can grab Bane and Padme if you see them but Rex and Dooku give you give more options. Barcs aren't worth getting. Destroyer Droids are good but the B1 and Phase 1 trooper expansion just give you a lot of different things to change around in your lists.

Thank's a lot, but what are the destroyer droids? Droidekas?

Yeah Droidekas. They're good but just a gun platform. You can't chabge them around like you can with the corps squads.

Not really, but they are basically free with how cheap the core sets are. You're mainly getting the Core sets for the Corps, dice, movement tools, etc. You're basically paying the cost of getting the 4 Corps units but getting all the other stuff for "free."
