Is this the only way to play SWL digitally or are there other programs...???

That's it. It's pretty good and a ton of work has been put into automating stuff and making it easy to play. I really don't see how it could be any easier.

There is also Vassal, which seems to be pretty popular.

I'd be shocked if Vassal could run it. It's fine for something like Armada, X-wing, or Imperial Assault, but those are all 2-dimensional games whereas Legion is 3-dimensional (height and cover, you know?). Unless Vassal's gotten WAY more intricate, I'd be doubtful that you could play Legion on it.

People have played 40k and other miniature games on vassal for years. Not as good as table top but still possible.
