Readied weapon

By Lifthrasir, in Rules Questions

"A readied weapon is a weapon that a character is prepared to use, either offensively or defensively. A character may ready a weapon at will during narrative time, or as an action during a conflict scene. When a character has the opportunity to ready weapons, they may choose any number of weapons at range 0-1 that they can hold at once."

Why the restriction of range (0-1) ? Can't you ready a yari (range 2) or a yumi (range 2-5) then ?

It's not about the range of the weapon, it's about the range that the weapon (as an object) is at.

So you can pick up any weapon, no matter which type, that is at range 0-1 of you. Which makes sense, as that's the range you can easily reach with your arms.

Just underscoring what @Myrion just told you: range 0-1 is the distance to the weapon, not the range of the weapon.

If two weapons are at range 1 but on opposite sides of the character, doesn't that make them range two relative to each other and require a movement and two actions to obtain both?

I'm just kidding, a little joke at the expense of those who can't handle range bands as written ;)

Thanks guys, that's what I thought.

I'm not a native English speaker, and there is a translation mistake in the French Beginner Game (but not in the Core Rulebook though...).
So I wanted to make sure by asking native speakers and seasoned players 😉

Seems a sensible solution.
