Crafting incidentals

By Mistervimes, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

My gaming group is notorious for making fun and eclectic characters. One player has made a "faulty" assassin droid PC that somehow ended up with fashion design in their programming. It's fun, we all love it, and the player is interested in investigating some XP into a skill to create clothes.

I want to reward this player for their contributions to the fun had at the table. How would you handle this? I'm thinking along the lines of armor crafting and maybe a really good outfit gives you a boost die to social combat or social skill rolls.

Thoughts?

Well, there are rules for armor crafting (Keeping the Peace?), but maybe you can give them (or let them have) some custom schematics.

The balance point is usually set at half the price and one less rarity for the parts as a standard bought item.

We all prefer different routes, but personally, I would just have the player buy Knowledge: Core Worlds , or whatever culture the character is supposed to be a fashionista in and just roleplay it rather than game mechanics'ing it. Let the droid saunter into the room in their finest garbs and tiaras, make a K:CW check, and gain a boost die or difficulty downgrade or something upon success. :)
