Y Wing anakin

Has anyone had any good experiences with Y wing Anakin?

Recently I have been trying to come up with a strong squad that includes him.

The best I have come up with so far is:

I am definitely not comfortable with it yet but Anakin seems to make sense with that build.
With proton torps he will want to go slow so r4 works well with precog as you can use precog then get rid of the strain with a blue manoeuvre.
He in general is ridiculously expenses and I don't want my list to rely on him too much. I feel like people will target him first so I need other ships that are a threat to the opposition.

I put in obi with clt and A6 as they work well together and if anakin can take out the opponents I5/6 then Obi will be free to do ace things.

Finally I put a Arc in because I don't want Anakin to be alone in the initial engagment. Originally I put Ric in but Anakin would get targeted to much.
The Arc will be able to block then give anakin a focus from his rear arc or keep the force for a tl force shot.

This a theory build and probably wont be that successful but it will be fun to be part of the journey to finding anakins niche

I don't think he's as bad as some folk think, and I know that @Stay On The Leader has been experimenting with him too.

I think the trick, as you say, is to keep him relatively cheap. With 8 health, behind 1 green, he is going to go down, but you need to ensure that you get full value from him before he does. That means two fully modded proton torpedo shots at i6. I tried him out once, flew him with C1-10P Obi and Wolffe ... but essentially, you need to have an end game threat to fly next to him. He's a bit like Dengar in the Boba/Dengar builds that are doing the rounds now.

Just plasma keeps him at 69pts. Does he need much more? Just use him to hunt and threaten other i6s like vader, not solo a list. He shoots first, so damage will be equal to protons on any shielded ship. I one-shot a vader once. Plasma was hit crit crit. Vader blanked. First shield gone from plasma, hit for second shield, first crit was fuel leak. Was fun, haha.

Only during the Neutralize Results step, so Evades will cancel crits before hits. However, damage is dealt in the next step, so shields will still do hits first, like normal.

If there were no Evades, should be fine.

anakin is probably best in an epic setting, leading a wing of proton Ys

I've been mucking around with Anakin lists and was inspired by the first use of the Y-Wing; the attack on the Malevolence. So I threw together a pure Y-Wing list because frankly that just seemed fun. I've only run it against an actual live human once but it worked that one time. The only aspect that isn't straight forward it target locking Matchstick with Broadsword turn one. Beyond that: 1) Don't be afraid to barrel roll with Matchstick for those bullseyes. 2) You'd be surprised how often Ani's ability can trigger the turn after he gets stressed negating some of the dial's lack of blue. 3) Dropping three proton bombs simultaneously will induce an evil cackle.
