So this is what it's like when doves cry,,,

By DoomTurtle, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Such a happy occasion last night! I got the rest of the Arkham expansions that I needed. I wasn't going to order them all at once (I only had Pharaoh and Dunwich) since it will be my birthday soon, and figure I would get one or two for that, but I found the website www.bestdanggames.com, and they actually had King in Yellow in stock, as well as the others (anywhere else I look seems to have King in Yellow on back order). The small boxes were only $16.99 each, and the large boxes were only $32.99. And at the time, they had free shipping over $100, so I couldn't pass that up. My friend also got in on the pricing deal and got Black Goat for himself as well. And they arrived last night!

So of course, I spent a couple hours just opening everything up, and going over it all. I'm going to have to come up with some sort of card storage solution. There is just so much! I counted everything to make sure it was all there. Everything was accounted for, but unfortunately, there was one problem. This will probably give Dam even more Kingsport fodder, but the small punchout sheet included with Kingsport was printed wrong. The front of all the tokens were correct (which includes the rifts, rift markers, aquatic marker, and some monsters), but the back of the sheet was printed to be the exact same as half of the large sheet, specifically the side of the sheet with all the Eihort tokens. So the back of the monsters and rifts, etc. are all miniature Eihorts.

I already sent an email to FFG about it (anyone know how long it takes to get a replacement from them?), but it wasn't enough to damper my spirit. having all Investigators and Ancient Ones available is just awesome. I can't wait to try everything out.

So yeah, just wanted to proclaim my joy. I never figured at 30 years old I would still be excited over "toys". But now that I'm here, I can't see ever not wanting to play with "toys". I see work as a necessary evil to buy more, but it gets in the way of playing. I may have to cast some Arcane Insight to look at the upcoming lotto numbers...

That's great and terrible all at once. From what I understand FFG is pretty quick on getting back with folks, but that might be slower now that we're into the summer convention season.

Good luck and I'll pay more attention to the backs of my sheets from now on.

Thanks for the site, I'll keep it in mind when I need to feed the addiction.

For organization, I was able to fit everything inside two boxes. Inside one box, I used the large area in the plastic tray as the monster cup, and then kept the dice, gate tokens, personal story cards, and epic battle cards in the side slots, and then placed the investigator, ancient one, guardian and herald sheets on top.

For the second box, I pulled out the plastic tray, and put in the small boxes for Black Goat of the Woods and King in Yellow without their lids, putting them in opposite corners of the box.. Inside the BGotW box I put all the mythos cards, sorted by set, and in the KiY box, all the investigator cards. Then in one leftover corner I put the otherworld encounter cards, and in the other, the Arkham encounter cards. And then I put in all the other components in, sorted out into bags. One bag for money, one for clue tokens, one for stamina/sanity, one for ancient one specific components, one for herald/guardian specific components, and then one for all main game components, including doom tokens, track progression tokens (Dunwich Horror, Rifts, Deep Ones Rising) The Act deck, Innsmouth Look cards, and all the other little odds and ends.

And then I put the boards on top, main board for one box, and all the expansion boards for the second. The lids won't go ALL the way down on the boxes, they stay up about a centimeter or two, but it's more than enough to keep everything from coming tumbling out. I'll try and get a picture up here soon to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

I've got the dice and tokens taken care of, I forgot to mention I got a little hardware kit box with removable dividers at a Home Depot for about $3 that holds all the tokens. With the dividers in, it has 12 smaller compartments, and 3 longer ones. So in the 12, I put 1) sanity, 2) stamina, 3) clues, 4) doom & yellow sign, 5) $1 dollars, 6) $5 & $10 dollars, 7) skill sliders, 8) Arkham tokens (closed, explored, terror, etc.), 9) expansions tokens (Dunwich Horror, rifts, deep ones), 10) Ancient One tokens (Ghatanothoa, Shudde M'ell, Zhar), 11) Eihort tokens, and 12) Bast tokens (and eventually power tokens). The 3 longer sections are for gates, fifteen dice, and the spawn & mask monsters.

Do your cards get mixed together if the box gets moved around? Or do they stay in their own piles pretty well?

I haven't had any problems with mixing. The Mythos and Investigator cards are in the small expansion boxes and the lid pressing down on them keeps them from sliding out. And the Other World and Encounter cards are arranged in such a way so that they have no chance to mesh together. The small boxes pretty much keeps them in their own corners. Even if they did manage to slide together somehow, which so far they haven't, one is positioned horizontally and the other is vertically, so they'd meet at a T rather than risk getting shuffled in. It's very hard to describe. Later today after I get back from work, I'll try to get a picture up to better explain it.
