What are you hoping to see?
I really hope we get low cost commanders for CIS and GAR. I'm an imperial player but they really need them.

If the pattern of releases from GCW continues to hold true (so far every release for CW has mirrored in slot at least the GCW stuff), then the Specialists boxes for CW should be next after (EDIT: the wave that includes) Darth Maul and Anakin.
I expect we might see official announcements for Darth Maul and Anakin (the latest leaks), and maybe more about Clone Wars Armada. I don't necessarily expect them to announce product that would come even later than the "wave" after the stuff that is already officially know.
Edited by Caimheul1313Hopefully all of the Q3 wave revealed and an idea for a release date for everything. Would be nice to know how bad Covid screwed up everything.
As for products so far we got 2/8 with Maul and Ani.
Going by old release order https://starwarslegion.fandom.com/wiki/Products#Q4 2018 we should get the melee special forces units. Most likely MagaGuards for CIS and Wookies/Senate Commandos for GAR.
Throw in 1 new thing for Empire and Rebels which is anyone's guess since these are the really really new units.
And that leaves just 2 spots left. https://starwarslegion.fandom.com/wiki/Products#Q1 2019 Going by old stuff our options are more special forces, commanders or the specialist expansion. I lean twoards the specialist, but not really sure which way they will go.

I figure the melee Special Forces would be after Anakin and Maul, since they would be lining up with the Palpatine and Chewie expansions, after that would likely be the Specialists. Then again they might slot an OT expansion after the second Special Forces units too. So I figure:
July - Padme, Cad Bane
August - ARC Troopers, Droid Commandos
September - Inferno Squad, Mandalorians
October - AT-RT, STAPs
November - Anakin, Darth Maul
December - Second Republic/CIS Special Forces
January - Republic/CIS Specialists or an OT expansion
I figure that FFG will announce everything that will be released for the rest of this year. I do wonder if we will get any news about the Mandalorian stuff they mentioned? Maybe they will announce character upgrade packs? Like an expansion that features named personal and heavy weapon options that could be used to fill out groups, Cara Dune for Mandalorian content or maybe the rest of the Rogue One group.

Following the pattern, the next Special Forces would be part of the same "wave" as Anakin and Darth Maul, and possibly released the same month. B ut you're right, that should be part of the same announcement. They may not be melee though, since the pattern has not been followed exactly (vehicle Supports instead of Emplacement Supports, for instance). I could easily see the CIS one being Magnaguard, but Republic not getting a melee unit.
Also, per the Upcoming page, the AT-RT and STAAP are due in September with ARC and Commando droids. The recent FFG releases have been mostly clusters of 3-4 boxes, but delays are possible, and even likely.
They could release the bad batch as the republic melee unit.

Or just Special Forces. They haven't been following the EXACT formula, just the same (or similar, in the case of Operative instead of Commander) force organization slot.

Dont think they would make much sense as a melee option especially when they would have a sniper as a potential heavy upgrade

I'd suggest Re-watching that story arc and see how they use their vibro blades. I don't see them as a dedicated melee unit, but as a sf unit with a strong melee ability (like commando droids with vibro swords). Honestly the republic dosen't really have a better melee option except for jedi and I think they should be limited to commanders or operatives.

Never said they werent good in melee. It just seems counter intuitive to build a unit that is good in melee but also wants to bring a sniper upgrade who would obviously want to stay out of melee. I guess they could make the sniper a detachment. That would allow him to stay back and snipe while the rest can get up close and personal.

The bad batch fits more with Inferno squad/Clan Wren special forces then the melee beatstick that in theory should be coming in the next wave. Now that does not count if Disney really wants to push the last season of the Clone Wars or if FFG goes with what they think would sell more.
Redoing the wookies with new cards and maybe giving the Rebels ones some help seem like a better option. Or using the Senate commandos which should be very close to the royal guard model.

I'm planning to try commando droids with the sniper upgrade and vibro swords so it wouldn't be unprecedented.
I agree that wookies need some help, just not sure that they'll release a republic version. I'm not sure what you mean by royal commandos, are you referring to the senate guard?

Crap my bad they are called Senate Commandos and they are the elite version of the Senate Guard that fight in the Clone Wars. Will fix that mistake.
As for wookies we have to wait and see how FFG does with repeat units. So far the AT-RT and a few weapons sort of point towards a lot of overlap, but this may be the big test with this next wave.
Honestly the Republic Wookies could be VERY different than the Rebel Wookies. Rather than purely melee based, they could very well be armed entirely with rifles, and have infiltrate.
I looking forward to what FFG reveals for Legion during GenCon Online. I'd like to see the following Legion expansions:
I was a fan of the Clone Wars and Rebels series and would like to see more of those characters in Legion.

Man I guess I'll get started on that 41st Corp now......

Well, you could wait at least until they are announced. Right now is pure speculation, I don't think there has been any official indication as to what we should expect for the next Special Forces units for CW. Releasing the STAAP and Republic AT-RT instead of Emplacement Troopers show that FFG isn't perfectly copying the GCW release pattern.

O i know it was more of a joke than anything, as finding p2s is basically impossible anyways

Just find some P1s and swap the heads, problem solved 😁 .
If you make them all Advanced Recon Force Scout Troopers, you'd need different heads anyway 😜 .
Or just Clone Scout Troopers with heavier armour.
Edited by Caimheul1313O let me go out to my phase 2 helmet tree and grab some
Nute Gunray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No problem. I thought that was the unit you were referring to, just wanted to be sure. If I'm remembering correctly Senate commandos almost exclusively used DC-15s, that could be a really fun republic sf unit.

The "DC-15S" from Legends is now called the DC-15A, which is the default blaster for Clones. If you mean the rifle pictured, that's now called the DC-15, in Legends it was called the "DC-15A."
I have also been caught by this confusing, annoying change in weapon names that was decreed for some mysterious reason... >_<
But yes, the DC-15 is cited as the standard weapon, and having a unit with Ranged 4 weapons would probably mix up the meta a bit. Presumably they would NOT be Clone Troopers, which would make for an interesting decision, since (barring having Exemplar or some other special rule) they wouldn't be able to share tokens.

The new naming convention makes more sense. Dc15 is the original and the dc15a is what came after.
