Notorious Scoundrels Season 2 Episode 6!
The Q&A is awesome! I really enjoy listening to this podcast!
Question for you guys...what’s the best token pool to take with obi wants one pip? Is the standby even worth it?
The trick is to park in melee the round before. Then one standby and a mix of dodges and standbies. When locked in melee only very few things can strip the standby and you almost guarantee a second attack.
I ran into that situation not too long ago. Obi was in melee with my K2. It was fairly obvious that I was going to send in Luke so my opponent played hello there. He took a standby, 2 aims, and the rest dodges. At first I didn't see a way that Obi wouldn't kill K2. That is until I remembered that Luke had mind trick.
Yeah... one standby, 1-2 aims, and a bunch of dodges, depending on how many tokens you are going to get.

But if say he goes first and attacks, doesn’t that make him lose his standbys?
ty for all the responses!
Yes it does. But he will have an order, so you just wait on activating Obi until after he has triggered his standby. As far as I know unless your opponent has Jedi mind trick it is impossible to suppress off the standby.

Any Suppressive melee attack or area weapon can also do it.
You're right. I forgot about suppressive melee.
Also the force power Fear, and Vader's command card Master of Evil. It should be noted that Krennic's command card Annihilation Looms will not work due to timing. Annihilation Looms hands out suppression during the Command Phase where as Hello There! specifies that Obi gains the tokens at the start of the Activation Phase.

One of the reasons why I think Fear is underrated by people at 3 points. Its great against standby.

It can shut standby down, but having to start in standby range is pretty limiting. Fear is definitely interesting, but I think there's just too much competition in the force power upgrades currently.

Yeah, I only throw it on there when Im points starved. But man, if it stops 0ne standby token from going off its more than worth it. Perfect for the "around the corner" standby situations.
