Docking a Lambda Shuttle to another Ship

By KaBlaBla, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Hey everyone! First post, although reading gratefully for a while now ;)

I was wandering if it is possible to dock a Lambda-Class-Shuttle to another ship and create an airtight passage? I don't see the ramp working for this.

On the other hand, the Shuttle missing this possibility would make it very impractical for bringing people on/of medium sized ships (which don't have the huge hangar needed to fly in the lambda). And this would reduce the usefulness of the shuttle significantly, as it won'T be able to SHUTTLE people on/off a lot of ships ;)

I couldn't find anything on this issue, did I oversee something?

The Lambda is intended for shuttling VIPs between capital ships that possess hangar bays and the ground, and are thus not really needed to dock with medium and smaller ships. I may be inventing this out of whole cloth because I can't remember or find a source, but I think that Lambdas have hatches on the dorsal side on either side of the wing thing.

If not, they should and I think it makes sense for them to.

The wings fold up. The ramp slides back into itself (instead of the normal function of hinging to the ground). The shuttle does a belly landing against the port of the other ship.

If I remember correctly, there was an episode of Rebels in the 3rd season that showed a stolen Lambda docked with a Corellian Corvette.

There's no reason for those shuttles not to have some kind of standard docking tackle- what happens if there's an emergency? Were it my game, I'd just rule that there's a docking ring on the bottom of the ship, accessed through the floor of the passenger area. If it would be fun for your players to use a Lambda shuttle on their adventure, you have every right to add to it whatever feature furthers that end.

This is Star Wars; there's always a hatch or something when you need it. Unless there is a plot point (or GM preference) to say otherwise, anything can usually be done :)
