Dwellers in Darkness

By Liggur90, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

Stumbled across another mini expansion, similar to Villains of Eriador, Dwellers in Darkness.
Product code: FFGJME07

Anyone heard anything about it?

Just that it exists, really.

Presumably this box's version of Villains of Eriador with 3 boss minis and some trinkets/titles.

So for the second adventure is moria and mirkwood!

Could *spoiler, see this pic * be one of the minis in this expansion?

Those are from the Shadowed Paths expansion, you get three of them.

I know, but this one has a unique name......just like Gulgotar (an orc in the base set but got his own mini in the Eriador set)

Ah I see what you're saying, it could be in that case. Seems odd they would wait so long to announce it officially. I'm sure Villains of Eriador came out almost immediately after the core set.

It could be that these Are for the new dls, so no need to hurry the release.

Well, the core set was released in April and the DLC came out around August. So. If the expansion’s release hadn’t gotten pushed back, we probably would’ve had an announcement for the next expansion by now, yes.

That said, on stream we were told there’s be announcements for JiME in the In-Flight report at the end of the month 🤙

Really a shame they decided to go this route again. While I liked the villain packs, its really annoying that if you're an excited player you will have already played the content thoroughly before you get the "proper" models. I wish they either packaged the models with the big box, or released them at the same time. The cards that come with them would be fine to release as a expansion to string together the big box expansions, but I think this release strategy is just baffling.

I agree 100% Valhalla. I've posted about that several times, both for this pack and the previous one. At least in this case if one waits for the new figure pack before playing the campaign, then maybe the app will be bug free at that time. 😡

I third this motion. While I enjoyed getting the Boss characters, I had already finished the Bones of Arnor campaign. I don't play nearly as much as I want but I still finished the entire campaign before the small box release.

Yikes, how bad are the bugs? Game breaking or just annoying?

Exactly. Even with painting the base game, and not playing super frequently in the interest of maximizing the number of players, I had played Bones of Arnor several times. In the long term, with a lot of expansions sure the original campaigns will be altered a good deal due to new enemies, possibly new events on the app, and new options for building your team to make them worth replaying- But in an ideal world the first time tackling a campaign would be the most epic.

It was released with a pretty bad, repeatable, game-breaking bug. That was fixed within a week. From my understanding there is still an intermittent game-breaking bug that triggers more randomly, but it sounds like the majority of people have been able to finish the campaign now. Plus there's still an assortment of annoying bugs, but I don't think those are new with the expansion.

I'd never thought about the timing of releasing the figure packs and how that might not make the most sense. I see the point though. Personally, it becomes an occasion to play through the campaign again. Not that I really need one. 😄

I expect FFG will be releasing some info on Dwellers in Darkness tonight during their In-Flight Report. They hinted at some new announcements coming in their Shadowed Paths gameplay live stream a few week ago. Stay tuned!

Nice... looks like I picked out the proper color scheme for the oathbreakers. 9LspDRc.jpg

Awesome! How did you get that look?

Inspiration:

Same 3 greens + same white (had them anyway). On one figure I applied Citadel Retributor Armor (base) prior to a top coat of green/dry brushing, on the other figure I dry brushed the metallic on top of the greens. Made a glaze with Ultramarine Blue contrast paint + Technical Contrast Medium. Although I'm not great at painting miniature figures, I'm definitely better than my wife. 😅 But not as good as my daughter.
