Home Table Terrain

When I started, I had a pickle jar and a butter dish as terrain. In other words, use what you got.
Where are you in the world? that helps people make suggestions.
There are rules as to how much and what type of terrain to use in Tournament situations. (There's a link on the FFG page https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/star-wars-legion/#/support-section ) I think it's 25% of the board in general
But, you can really play however you want. You can make your own (there's an article about it yesterday in fact) or you can buy table top terrain on ebay, 3D print your own, or whatever you want.
Also relevant is what size of table you're playing on. A 3'x3' will require less terrain than a regulation 3'x6' table. Additionally, the smaller play area will inform your decision about what type of terrain you choose.
Another important item of consideration is whether you want thematic terrain. Thematic tables (Snow/Hoth, Forest/Endor, Urban, etc.) can look really great, especially if your minis' bases match the terrain. On the other hand, it can lead to a sense of fatigue if you're fighting over the same terrain again and again and again. Modular terrain that can be assembled or deployed in different ways can offset that monotony, and the Legion system for selecting objectives and deployment is a good one in that regard.
I can always recommend to keep the big ravioli cans (Or something else), best thing is if you have some in various sizes. Buy soome sprays, that should make it an easy paintjob. If you can, ad some Symbols, and maybe graffitis. This adds already a great industrial look to the board, for.... well 5 bucks or so, depending on your sprays.
