The Squadrons Format League will start July 6th!
- 5 weeks, infinite games allowed but only your best two games per week are counted
- Squadrons Format is based on the upcoming Star Wars Squadrons game
- Registration, matchmaking and reporting, etc. are all done via the Salt Mines Discord
- No entry fee, some prize support (details pending)
- TTS or VASSAL (matchmaking available for both)

Your squad must contain exactly five ships.

You may only include pilots from the following ships:

Rebellion: A-Wing, X-Wing, Y-Wing, U-Wing

Empire: TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, TIE Reaper

You may not include any limited pilots in your squad. To clarify, limited pilots (illegal here) are colloquially referred to as “named pilots”, and non-limited pilots (the only ones legal here) as “generics”.

You may not include more than one copy of the same pilot in your list (for example, you may not have a list with two or more Academy Pilots).

You may not include any limited upgrade (an upgrade with a “uniqueness” dot). The one exception to this rule is talents (see bullet 6).

You may not have more than one copy of the same talent in your list (for example, you may have a maximum of one copy of Crack Shot in your list).

My lists almost write themselves. An intimidation Phoenix, 3 X-Wings, and a proton torp Y-wing or a coordinating U-Wing for rebels. Two barrage bombers, two interceptos, a coordinating Reaper. The remaining 15 points add a freelance slicer (lol), and... prox mines? Ion bombs? Afterburners?

No double barrage allowed, but 1 + that Prox Mine bomber, maybe?

Do you need to have one of each ship? Or could I have three generic xwings (red squad, blue squad, cavern angel’s zealot)?

no rules other than those listed, so as long as you have five ships you're good!

correct. Talents are the one upgrade that's different than everything else. The reasoning behind this was that in Squadrons, you can't play as an iconic pilot from the Star Wars universe but you're still your own person with your own playstyle and unique human brain. Therefore, I see talents as a way of expressing individuality without using a name from the universe.
I4 Sabers are going to murder everything...
Outmaneuver, Squad Leader... It's all gonna be nasty for Rebels.
All I can think of for Rebs is a single Snap+Juke Green RZ1.
Maybe a couple P.rockets.
R3 Torp Ys might come out alright...if the Sabers don't wipe em off the table first.

Does seem like that I4 Interceptor is a little auto-include, but few things thrill me more than stacking out my generics!
Bombers gonna bomb, bomb, bomb, BOMB, BOMB, BOMB!
Proton-Proton Scimitar is basically autoinclude for me.
Juke I4 Saber also seems a shoo-in. Hmmm, Shield, Stealth, TC, or AB? Or Lone Wolf?
Tactical/ISB Slicer Reapers will be really interesting support pieces if it works.
And then comes the question of how to leverage a TIE Fighter for the format...
