Applications of ¨Brace¨ Talent

By blatamano, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I limited Brace to those conditions--environmental or not--that move/push/pull the body in some way. This can be high/low gravity, the effects of rapid maneuvers when in/on a vehicle, strong winds (in an atmosphere)/currents (in fluid or underwater), precipitation, earth tremors, etc. While I limit it to things that move the body, it can be used with any skill (e.g., with Medicine to do first aid while in the back of a speeder truck making a fast getaway down twisting streets).

Using brace to see through fog is rather strange though. I think the arguing that it should be able to remove setbacks to see through dense rain or fog goes against the intended purpose of the talent.

Trying to critically analyze the wording of Brace description to include things or not disallow things is silly.

Take a step back, think rationally. What did the dev's intend when making this Talent called Brace. I dont think seeing through Rain or Fog was what they had in mind.

You are being too literal on the word brace. It is taking steps to eliminate some of negative effects of the environment. It could be anything from squinting to see through fog to bracing against the wind.

Squinting?

Yeah.... no. You can't squint to see through fog.
