Some new locations and a new type of monster

Otherwise known as "Fun with Strange Eons". Some are meant to be serious, some less so, such as the DMV, of course...

I was going to make an Ice Cream Shop location, but then I thought it might be more fun as a wandering vendor, which led to these... I'm thinking there might be a Guardian/Herald or scenario that involves all of these "monsters" being used. Sort of a "street encounters" kind of thing. Any other ideas for these type of things?

Hahaa, what fun! I particularly like the ice cream truck. Made me smile XD Just the idea of running around Arkham, doing everything you can to stop Cthulhu and co. when suddenly you hear the playful tune of the ice cream truck and think 'Oh man, I could really use a fudgicle right now.' Gossip seems like she should be black boarder though, since nothing special happens when she moves.

I've had ideas for things similar to these. I'm actually working on an Investigator whose title is Snake Oil Salesman ;D And for the doomsday preacher, I'm coming up with a herald that's the panicked masses of Arkham, using a special cup made out of Maniacs and the Riot spawn monsters from KiY, and a doomsday preacher monster. When I'm ready to put it together, I might just use this guy here if you don't mind.

One other thing is, as citizens of Arkham, it seems their symbols should all be moon, so gate closings can't remove them from the board. Unless that was the intention. I suppose it also gives you a variety of movement though.

I like these a LOT actually. They'd give you something to do out in the street, which is typically a sort of no-man's land.

EDIT: Just noticed something iffy about the Salesman. If you don't buy anything he delays you, and when he moves, he moves towards the nearest investigator. So, if he moves enough turns in a row, he can basically lockdown a single broke investigator for an indeterminate amount of time, which seems like it'd be rather frustrating. You might wanna twiddle with that a bit.

Thanks for the input. I was originally just goofing around with those locations, but I think I might have hit on something interesting with the street "monsters". They're sort of like regular location encounters mixed with location abilities, but they also move. And yeah, I realize that technically they should be moons, being that they're human, but I guess I wanted some variety of movement. I also think it's possible that they could and perhaps should go away when certain gates are closed, just so the board isn't cluttered with them... though I still have to work out some details of how they come out to begin with, so perhaps a good balance can be found. It would just seem a little static to me to have a few of these things out there, and they either all move or don't. I'd rather there be the variety.

I had already changed the Salesman so now he doesn't delay anybody. He just forces you to buy something if you can, which may or may not be useful.

They are all spawn monsters and therefore immune to gate closings anyway. But there is no mechanic to add them to the board or remove them for that matter.

All in all some interesting work. The fortune teller is way overpowered though, basicaly a clue vending machine as is.

Oops, duh they're spawn monsters. That went right over my head |D

Here's what I'm going with for now as far as rules. I'll try to playtest this soon and see how it goes. I could use some more ideas for Street Tokens, if anyone has any thoughts...

I'd make it a guardian, there aren't enough useable guardians and personally I say why reinvent the wheel?

Yeah, I guess so, but as it is, some of these things aren't necessarily positive, or at least, it depends on the circumstances. By and large, though, they at least offer some possibility of a benefit, so I guess a guardian would fit.

I personally like it better when a guardian has an associated cost or risk, it's more Lovecraftian that way. Check out my Servants of Nodens guardian in the appropriate thread and you'll see what I mean.
